🌡️☀️Despite record-breaking heat this July, CA’s grid delivered uninterrupted power thanks to new clean energy resources, battery storage, and enhanced coordination between @California_ISO and state agencies. Over 30M stayed safe and cool🧊 #GridReliability #DemandResponse

More⚡️electrifying news: 100K EV chargers🔌 across California! @CalEnergy continues to push forward to provide accessible, reliable, & convenient charging for all.

California just hit another EV milestone: 100,000 public chargers have been installed across the state. 🚗🔋⚡ No other state in the nation is doing as much as California to make our tailpipe-free future a reality. gov.ca.gov/2024/03/01/cal…

More ZEVs were sold in California in 2023 than at any point in history, including in Q3 when sales hit their highest share ever at 26.7%. gov.ca.gov/2024/02/22/cal…

More zero-emission vehicles were sold in California last year than at any point in history, including in Q3 when sales hit their highest share ever. Sales are up 1022% from a decade ago. California is going to achieve our world-leading goal of 100% ZEV new-car sales by 2035.

Reports of a downturn in the EV market are greatly over exaggerated. The fact is sales are exceeding state projections & are expected to remain strong in the years ahead.

Take a look at annual EV sales in California over time. In 2023 there were 446,961 EVs sold in California. Ten years ago, in 2013, there were 39,805 EVs sold in California. That's a 1022% increase 😱 #ElectricForAll

California is making it easier to charge your electric vehicle. Zero-emission vehicles are the future — 1 in 4 new cars sold in our state are EVs — and we're leading the way by building the most extensive charging network in the nation.

California truly is a postcard from the future on this issue, and many others. Thanks to the @washingtonpost for having me on this week to help set the record straight about the growth that is happening in this sector.

.@ChairHochschild, chair of the California Energy Commission, and @apoorv_bh89, CEO and co-founder of WeaveGrid, join @PostLive for a series of conversations that assess the demand for electric cars and the role of the grid in powering the vehicles. twitter.com/i/broadcasts/1…

You may have news recently suggesting that EV transition may not be happening. In reality, 2023 was the highest ever EV sales in CA & around the nation — 2024 is on track to be bigger still. 1 in 4 cars sold in CA today have a plug & we are adding 1200 EVs every day in our state.

The Q4 EV Market Report is here. Data shows a 29% increase in new EV sales from 2022 to 2023 and an 8.2% increase in new EV sales in Q4 2023 compared to Q4 2022. Additionally, over 1.2 million EVs were sold in the U.S. in 2023! Read the full analysis here: veloz.org/q4-2023-data-s…

Somehow, we need to learn to stop fighting about which clean energy sources/strategies are the best and build as much of everything as we can, as fast as we can. There are plenty of differences/nuances, but they're far less important than the fact that we're running low on time.

Simple answer: Blackouts are dangerous and we should work hard to avoid them, maybe even if it means keeping some gas plants around. More complicated answer: Some blackouts are inevitable and we should try to “fail gracefully,” in @emilygrubert’s words: latimes.com/environment/ne…
