Excited to be part of this fantastic new research center! Looking to hire a post doctoral fellow to work on this funded project. Please contact by email if interested in neurogenomics, population genomics and/or climate change in stickleback. today.ucsd.edu/story/uc-san-d…

Do grant proposal texts matter for funding decisions? A field experiment Spoiler alert...NO! #Grants #academia

Every once in a while I stray from stickleback... Excited to be a part of this cool study on white sands lizards with @HaererAndreas, @evoecoalex, @RoLab_UC, @TelmaLaurentino

Happy to share that our paper on the gut microbiota of White Sands lizard is out in @molecology 🦎🦠🏜️ “Gut microbiota parallelism and divergence associated with colonisation of novel habitats” (1/6) doi.org/10.1111/mec.17…

Check out our recent paper. @HaererAndreas gives a nice summary here.

Really excited to share our (@lifeatthebench and I) paper just accepted in @ASNAmNat We studied threespine stickleback populations from lakes of varying size to investigate associations between diet variation and gut microbiota diversity. tinyurl.com/382nmbzp (1/4)

This is Neekas, Heiltsuk Territory. All of these salmon went into the creek, the creek dried up b/c of no rain so far this fall, and just died, and this is just one reach! Global warming is killing everything. This is such a sad scene. Video credit, Sarah Mund

This matters! Funding has not allowed @NSERC_CRSNG to increase fellowship and postdoc rates for decades. The Open Letter (which you can still sign!) is part of a broad effort to pressure govt to provide appropriate funding increases.

Support Grad students & Postdocs: Join us in Ottawa (8/11) & Montreal (8/17) to deliver this 60m long Open Letter (bit.ly/3vWWDQt) with >6700 signatures from🇨🇦scientists/engineers asking for increased govt funding for grads/pdfs. RSVP:forms.gle/gDZvAVJBYpHHrp… Pls share

How is this not front page news?! This is beyond horrifying...

This looks like Theranos level fraud. The last 16 years of Alzheimer’s research looks to have been built on deliberately falsified data. It’s why Alzheimer’s drugs have a 99% failure rate in trials. The thing they’re trying to fix isn’t the problem. dailykos.com/story/2022/7/2…

PhD opportunity (Fall 2023) in my lab at UCSD studying variation in maximal lifespan and its genomic basis in stickleback fish. Contact me via email drennison(at)ucsd.edu if interested!

Yoel is an awesome person, scientist and mentor! Such a great opportunity.

I'm hiring! @NSF CAREER award. Postdoc to prepare, collect, and analyze data from a high-resolution, long-term threespine stickleback fossil series. Questions of evolutionary tempo and mode, micro- and macro evolution. 5yrs lakeside in awesome Chicago. careers.luc.edu/postings/19827

I have grant money to sequence stickleback from 150 locations in California. So far I have collected or been given fish from ~90 sites. If you or someone you know has California stickleback please get in touch with me I will share the resulting data.

please share, the ENLACE program at UCSD is accepting applications for their summer highschool/ undergrad research program. My lab is one of the potential host labs resilientmaterials.ucsd.edu/ENLACE

Share widely, SCRIPPS at UCSD is looking for a tt professor in fish biologist/collections curator. Hiring will be at the Asst., Assoc. or Full Prof level. Research topic is flexible and open to fields of evolution, ecology, physiology, systematics etc apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/JPF02926
