One of our latest @vaillantuk installs another 4 bed detached house with a 5kw heat pump. We’ve used a bespoke cylinder from @NewarkCylinders to perfectly fit the customers requests. @Openenergymon looking good on the first DHW run 👌🏼 @Primarypro1 insulation from @MWPHS

Tow bars should be illegal when not in use! Yes I know it needs a clean 😅

Why everyone oversizes heat pumps, a thread 🧵 Been thinking about the stack of factors that mean it's practically impossible for installers not to oversize heat pumps. When you're building heat loss tools turns out you spend a lot of time digging through the minutiae🤓🤓

Is there any dedicated heating engineers out there who actually want a job??? Recruiting is painful!

Why haven’t more homes switched to renewable heating? The 'Spark Gap' – the perceived cost difference between gas and electric – is a key barrier. @OVOEnergy Heat Pump Plus offers 15p/kWh for Vitocal 150-A/151-A, lowering costs for sustainable comfort. bit.ly/4cKxAmy

Wow, electricity prices are crazy high in the UK and Europe!

However bad you think things are in the UK, it’s worse

It’s a wrap! 10kw @ViessmannCS_UK Vitocal 150A, 300L Newark Heat Geek cylinder, No rad changes necessary for 45° max flow temp. 6KWp of PV, SolarEdge inverter and optimisers with 2 x Powerwall 2 by our solar partners Cool Power Electrical.

Another ‘UgLy wAsHiNg mAcHiNe’ being installed this week to replace a 22yo boiler, providing heating and hot water at half the running cost of gas. With 8 solar panels to bring the energy bills close to zilch.

Curtailment is good. (in the right proportion) It is unreasonable to expect any power plant to be able to sell 100% of the electricity that it possibly could have produced, especially at high penetrations. No amount of storage or flexible demand is going to eliminate…

Solar covered parking could generate as much electricity as all existing sources combined in the U.S. (~4,400 TWh/year) - U.S. has an estimated 1-2 billion parking spaces - 1 billion standard sized parking spaces = 14 billion square meters (3.4 TW @ 24% efficiency) - 4,400…

I must have triggered a dodgy algorithm 😁

You've spent many thousands to replace a quiet 99% super efficient clean gas condensing boiler that mainly emits water and some CO2 - the fundamental fuel for life on our planet - with a noisy compressor engine that does not work very well when the weather gets really cold - and…

Did you know that the countries with the most heat pumps per household are actually some of the coldest countries? Look at the top right corner (coldest and most heat pumps). nature.com/articles/s4156…

Back in Barnet Reinstating the wet heating system that was replaced with 24kw of electric heaters. Oh and they left the 37kw gas boiler in to heat the UFH in the 2kw kitchen. We’re bringing Rads, Heat pump, affordable warmth 👌🏼

The classic ‘the builders are doing all the plumbing’- 5 bedroom house, 3 bathrooms, 9 hot water outlets, all in 15mm. Now I have to rip up half the house to fix it.

Back Monday to finish this one!

Interestingly the 35mm primary pro fits snuggly on to 40mm MLCP 👌🏼
