People who refuse to promise the masses free everything - healthcare, housing, education, monthly stipends, etc - aren’t doing so because of lacking compassion, knowledge, or awareness. It’s due to unfeasibility, tremendous cost, and enormous predictable harm to the nation.

At this movement in the chilly winter night, Shanghai people are chanting on the downtown street “ we don’t want dictatorship, we want democracy”.Extraordinary courage and solidarity showed. After 3 years of suffering from lockdown & control of society, people are raged.

Tonight it’s amazing that hundreds of students made to streets and stormed the campus to protest against insane lock down and control. in Beijing residents in dozens of neighborhoods gathered to argue with local officials to request for immediate removal of lock down policies too

“No dictatorship, we want democracy. We don’t need a dictator we want voting rights.” These slogans were shouted out loudly and openly on the street of Shanghai. This is unprecedented. What’s next? Will the authorities arrest and announce stricter social control laws? Eyes on CH

This could be a big deal. At the very least, it’s a healthy reminder that the CCP does not represent many (maybe even most) Chinese people.

Two courageous Chinese girls are lecturing (literally) police officers, One said to a young police “how much u make a year? 20K monthly? Then 240k RMB a year. For such little u sold ur soul? That’s how much u sold yourself? Isn’t this funny? You guys are 20 or 30, is it worthy?”

Absolutely. This is a big deal. Chinese ppl aren’t Chinese gov nor CCP followers by default. The disobedience and free wills are harshly punished as there is no free press, no free partying or gathering rights. When disobedient ppl couldn’t bear and stood up, it means a lot.

“Step down CCP”. It’s amazing such straightforward slogans are loudly shouted out, so clearly and proudly. Young people showed no fear, rather there is high spirit and solidarity. This is a historic night. 共产党下台。这样的口号在上海街头被响亮地喊出。年轻人毫无恐惧毫无犹豫。

Scale of the protest tonight in Shanghai. Notice police didn’t do anything but standing calmly watching ppl protest and shouting. It’s not benevolence. My guess: they need to ask for directives from the top authorities. Police might be stunned as nobody dares doing so for decades
