The trailer for “Luther: Never Too Much,” a new documentary on the life of the late Luther Vandross, is out:
The operative phrase in my piece was "less un-conservative." Both candidates' platforms contain foolish and unworkable economic policies that should make conservatives shudder. But only one candidate would tear up the NATO alliance, surrender Ukraine to Russia and make God knows…
Kamala the conservative? Not quite This week’s Democratic Party convention in Chicago has of course been the subject of a ton of coverage and commentary. One column in particular jumped out at me. Globe and Mail columnist @acoyne made the provocative argument that not only…
Me normally: We shouldn't goldplate transit projects with unnecessary ornation. Me post Sydney Metro: Cathedrals. Cathedrals we shall have, testaments that our grandest places are not palaces, but gateways promising mobility for all. Monuments to the glory of the Commonwealth.
How I’m gonna feel walking from arbutus to UBC in 2031.
Sydney Metro is incredible. I actually can’t believe something this good got built in Australia
Can't believe the harper government would do this.
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. and Radio-Canada will eliminate about 600 jobs and an additional 200 vacancies will go unfilled as it contends with $125 million in budget pressures. vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/12/04/cbc…
This woman is an inspiration and doing great things for Canada. Proud to call her a friend.
Today is the 4-year anniversary of my first federal election win! It’s been an honour to serve and I’m grateful for all the incredible people that have come on this journey with me. Cheers to the next 4 years! 🇨🇦
consider deploying existing visa restrictions tools against Ugandan officials and other individuals for abuse of universal human rights, including the human rights of LGBTQI+ persons.
Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act (AHA) threatens the lives of its people as well as the country’s prosperity. The United States urges the immediate repeal of the AHA to protect the human rights of all Ugandans. state.gov/on-the-enactme…
The real deal here. 🔽
Thank you @douglaskerr and @InfoDignity for inviting me to the #IDAHOTB2023 reception. I was honoured to meet @LGBTRightsGhana Executive Director @ahuoden there and learn more about the courageous work they are doing to advance the rights and freedoms of all people.
60+ MPs worldwide join collectively to call President @KagutaMuseveni not to assent to the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023 passed by the Parliament of #Uganda 🇺🇬 If you are an MP, join our Global Parliamentary Petition ➡️ pgaction.org/news/uganda-pe… 🫰 Love is a #humanright.
A fun watch, and great to see Vancouver double as Washington, DC
I'm with @douglaskerr In the wake of horrific legislation, like that of the Ugandan Parliament this week, Ministers @MarciIen and @melaniejoly must appoint a Special Envoy for LGBTIQ Human Rights and ensure safe passage of those fleeing persecution. ottawacitizen.com/opinion/kerr-c…
Thinking of my friend Pepe in Uganda right now. Yesterday the Ugandan Parliament passed a law known as the "Anti-Homosexuality Act". It's appalling. It's discriminatory. It's wrong. 🧵 #cdnpoli
This isn’t a winning message. We aren’t the State of Florida. What’s the plan to support Black Canadians or advance Reconciliation??
Critical thought is the enemy of wokeism.
Our thoughts and support are with LGBTIQ communities in Uganda as the anti-LGBTIQ bill passed first reading in parliament today. The proposed law includes gross violations of fundamental human rights, including prison sentences, simply for identifying as LGBTIQ. #uganda
BREAKING: Uganda just passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023, one of the harshest of such laws in Africa. President Museveni, who has called gay people "deviants" is widely expected to approve it
In over 70 countries today, LGBTIQ individuals are criminalized. In 12 of those countries, they may be punished by death. Their only crime? Being themselves. Canada must be a champion for freedom and human rights, all around the world, for everyone. @InfoDignity #cdnpoli
Counterpoint: calling the queer community sexual predators is textbook homophobia and factually untrue. Want to raise doubts? Go for it. But using tired homophobic tropes about the community orchestrating a “gay agenda” against kids is clear hate speech.
