Hi Twitter, my old friend. Since we last spoke, I defended my #dissertation, #graduated, and officially became Dr. Lauren Vollinger, #PhD! (See evidence below.) Onto the next chapter!!!
"Coerced debt has a profound impact on survivor safety. It creates: Incredible debt loads they can’t pay, damages credit, which creates barriers to housing, utilities, phones, transportation, denies access to future opportunity..." -- Sara Wee, Dir. of Research & Programs CSAJ
Excellent thread!
Also, thrilled to announce that I’ll be joining the Victimization & Resilience Program at @RTI_Intl! Looking forward to continuing my research on human trafficking & sexual violence while contributing to efforts that meaningfully support folks who have overcome these experiences.

Half the time I spend on job applications is actually time searching Zillow for the home I’d buy if I got the job. 😬#Zillow
Be still my tap dancer heart!
We want to end coerced debt. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 70% of domestic violence survivors were in debt, often as a result of fraud or coercion by their abuser. Text GIVECSAJ to 44-321 to donate and be a part of CSAJ's work to address this barrier to survivor safety.
Great first experience at an academic conference! I really enjoyed presenting with Eurielle Kiki, @lauren_voll, and Sarah Light. Also, a special thanks to @TCKulig and @VRAndersonPhD for all their help throughout the process. It was great to see everyone! #ASC2021
🤷🏼♀️
Tell me it’s a writing day without telling me it’s a writing day. I’ll go first… #dissertation #AcademicTwitter
Congratulations @beckibooks & co whose paper, "Changing the Criminal Justice System Response to Sexual Assault: An Empirical Study of a Participatory Action Research Project" in AJCP won a 2021 Distinguished Publication Award from @AWPsych! Paper here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.10…
Just used true crime podcasts, specifically @MyFavMurder, to interrupt my doom scrolling. So, that's where I'm at today.
