When the @latimes makes news, we must cover our institution with the same scrutiny as we would any other. Here's @latguild member @RaineyTime on what's gone on this week at the @latimes: latimes.com/business/story…

Congratulations to our colleagues at @IAPE1096 on their tentative contract agreement, which includes 16.25% raises over the four-year duration of the contract and retroactive pay dating back to the expiration of their last contract last summer. iape1096.org/iapework/2024/…
Wonderful photo of (some of) our beautiful @latguild fam at the @capitalandmain gala 🥲 Proud of all these great journalists!
Taking a break with my colleagues. We deserve a fair contract. It's been a long 596 days. @latguild forever ✊🏽
The Festival of Books is this weekend. Authors and attendees, here's how you can help @latimes journalists who have been working for a year and a half without a contract: - Sign the petition - Voice support for the @latguild during your panel Details: latguild.com/la-times-festi…
Ended a call with my editor and another reporter short today to participate in a lunch walk-out today in protest of mgmt refusing to give our laid off colleagues the severance they deserve. It's simple. honor the contract. Pay our colleagues the severance they're owed.
I’m standing with my colleagues today to send this message to our company: Honor the contract. Pay our colleagues the severance they're owed. @latguild
My former colleagues like James are going to BAT for me and others who got laid off in January. L.A. Times management is trying to cheat us out of thousands of dollars in severance. Grateful to James and @latguild for continuing to fight for us
Taking a break in solidarity with my @latguild colleagues. Our managers refuse to honor a deal they made and are trying to avoid paying the full severance they owe our laid off colleagues. When we pointed this out -- a manager implied we could face more job cuts.
“As more antidemocratic political candidates seek office, we’re losing the people who are at the frontlines of holding them accountable.” What the mass L.A. Times layoffs just told us about the future of journalism h/t @by_justin sfchronicle.com/opinion/openfo…
Out here with @latguild observing bargaining after the layoffs — and still getting work done — even as our managers keep sending security personnel to sweep the floor and keep an eye on us. It’s their right, but not exactly a sign some leaders want to work collaboratively!
To those who have sent messages of support, I can't thank you enough for your warm, appropriately profanity-laced notes.
The LATimes reported that Google spent $1.2 million on an ad blitz to kill the bill. Queenie Wong, the reporter who wrote the story, announced Tuesday she was among the journalists who lost their jobs. sfchronicle.com/politics/artic…
Francine is one of the greats. Heart of gold, with an artist's eye. This is all so wrenching.
Heartbroken. I’m not sure what else to say atm. I keep talking to such good, relentless colleagues and friends that the @latimes is losing today and I’m just heartbroken. Important voices for a community that needs their stories told.
hmu if you want someone to run your reddit or instagram or experiment with new platforms or send your alerts or manage your aggregator relationships or do your homepage bc i do all of that!!!!
There’s a lot to be saddened by over these LA Times layoffs, but losing the team at the Washington DC bureau is going to hurt coverage of what’s happening in Congress for the folks back home in California. And it’s an election year. Huge loss for the public.
