it's easy to acknowledge that the lawsuits Drake and his team are coming w could expose shady doings and shake the music industry as we know it while also acknowledging that he's only doing it because he lost the biggest rap beef of the century and his pockets hurtin

usually reserve certain ramblings for instagram stories because people on here are rabid, weird, and cannot disagree normally but some quick thoughts on kendrick, saviorism, and him borrowing from & impersonating pac in all the ways except those that matter

This lawsuit isn’t about music. It’s about legacy, or rather, the lack of one. It’s a public confession that Drake fears the future because it no longer has his name written on it. And the irony? He’s not even wrong. Not Like Us is exactly that—a line drawn in the sand. On one…

“Drake has initiated legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify over allegations that the two companies conspired to artificially inflate the popularity of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us.’” billboard.com/pro/drake-umg-…

I know Kendrick dropped but it would be a shame to let this go under the radar. its a compilation in celebration of trans voices and features artists such as Andre 3000, Adrianne Lenker, Sade, Pharoah Sanders and Clairo just to name a few.

TRANS PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED. I had the honor of contributing to this incredible compilation on a song called “within without.” the poem i’m reading was written by Nsámbu Za Suékama and the beautiful accompaniment was produced by Green-House. my life and work has been…

naw the way he channeled Pac's writing/cadence even in subtle ways is crazy

Yes, this is the worst possible day to drop music but I'm spiritually obligated to post anything even remotely SAULT-adjacent. We're being fed today. The new Michael Kiwanuka album dropped entirely produced by Danger Mouse and Inflo. open.spotify.com/album/6dM03QWc…

De La’s experience with ownership is the real source of their frustration. This post shows a misunderstanding of the book; it’s critical analysis + personal narrative + cultural biography. @MarcusJMoore is documenting, contextualizing & honoring their legacy, not rewriting it

extremely weird trend over the past decade of musicians trying to weaponize their audiences against "unauthorized" media — reviews, books, documentaries etc — and grown adults in turn not grasping that works of criticism or journalism do not require approval or even access

We riding behind @MarcusJMoore at all costs. A good brother with a good heart that spent countless hours linking his own maturation to the maturation of one of his favorite hip-hop groups. That’s an act of love and it deserves to be acknowledged as such.

This is filthy work of De La Soul, weaponising their fans based on a book that isn’t touted as a biography but a sociopolitical analysis of De La Soul’s context and meaning in African American, Black and American history. Marcus J Moore is an incredible talent and deserves better

First, Marcus J. Moore is one of the most brilliant music journalists in the business. A deeply thoughtful scholar who operates with the sort of rigor that, quite frankly, any musician should be honored to receive. Let's establish that out the gate.

The latest US literacy stats have just dropped and they are every bit as grim as you might imagine. "Approximately 50% of Americans read so poorly that they are unable to perform simple tasks such as reading prescription drug labels"

One thing I do worry about, is that the “solidarity” between “people of color” has been significantly damaged. Watching Latinos chase model minority status has never sat *well* with black people, but this is a wound the Black community won’t soon forget.

Please, I beg, don’t EVER group us together as “POC” anymore.
