We publish a lot of interesting stuff at CBR, but I found this article particularly fascinating.

The two ideologies appear to contradict each other, but their histories are intertwined, according to Chicago Booth’s Yueran Ma. ms.spr.ly/6015g5Qvx

Our deep dive into regression discontinuity design. If you're a writer who likes this kind of thing, please get in touch. We'd love to do more of it.

Great article by the Chicago Booth Review (Koon Leong Ho and Emily Lambert): chicagobooth.edu/review/how-sta… on the advantages of RDD to answer causal questions. Thanks for highlighting our RDD survey 🤩 onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jo… @ma_ruizs @chicagoboothrev @ChicagoBooth #RDD @lambertem

Thanks for being a terrific partner @EMPEHI4Ever ! Every school in the 19th ward is getting 5 copies of the Maus box set. If anyone on Twitter wants to fund a few more books or a class set, get in touch.

Beverly residents Emily Lambert and Teri Sosa delivered donated copies of the graphic novel Maus, by Art Spiegelman today, as part of an initiative that has been fully-funded by parents, community members, and community groups, including the 19thWard Mutual Aid.

You can still make or lose a lifetime of savings in the markets in seconds, and even put on a flashy jacket and platform shoes if you're feeling nostalgic. But the game has changed. RIP.

(WSJ) - The exchange operator CME Group Inc. said it would permanently close most of its open-outcry trading pits in Chicago, ending one of the world’s last vestiges of old-fashioned floor trading. (via @WSJ) ⁦@followthehwsj.com/articles/cme-g…

Say what you want about learning loss, but my son started season 1, ep 1 of the Simpsons in quarantine and just finished season 31.

So our choice changed once we became aware that our teacher weren’t ready or felt safe, and not all schools are equipped according to cps plans

This is in Chicago, where the mayor ran on letting in the light. Ed reporters have been asking questions, fighting spin.

You what is bull crap... the Mayor's office will not allow an ed beat reporter into this press conference. @MaryAnnAhernNBC is great and one of the journalists who I respect most... but boy, would I like to ask the mayor and Jackson some questions in real time.

How can you say in person learning is okay, restaurants are okay to eat in... but one more reporter in a press conference is a greater risk?
