Teachers in Rainier Beach called out @TheStranger for endorsing a candidate that doesn't have the support of rank and file teachers. And a candidate who has an austerity approach to closing the budget gap. I kinda feel bad for them.

🚨The extreme Washington GOP is teaming up with the mega-rich to pass a set of ballot initiatives that would hurt working Washingtonians. Three ways you can help: 1) Decline to sign 2) Spread the word 2) Call the hotline, (425) 553-2175, to report signature gatherers Read on:

I won! Gracias Tacoma for the honor to serve as your first appointed and now elected Latina city council member. Excited to keep up the work of opening pathways for all people to feel safer, more able to find housing, and keep their small businesses open. #sisepudo

It's sad that @TheStranger writes about anti-trans issues in other states and ignores the increase of trans student harassment in Seattle Schools. What is the anti-trans threshold in Seattle before you write about anti-trans issues in your backyard?

FORCED OUT: Anti-trans laws in Missouri and an anti-trans screed met with applause prompted Jamie to start planning a move to Washington. Though a life of writing music in Seattle sounds dreamy, leaving behind a chosen family in St. Louis is hard. 00 thestranger.com/forced-out/202…

SPS would violate their own guardrails if they closed schools as it would negatively impact students' furthest from educational justice.

WEA is taking a prosperity approach to District budget shortfalls throughout the state by asking for more funding for Special Education, more mental health services for students, and living wages for administrative staff in schools. washingtonstatestandard.com/2023/11/13/wha…

The Stranger is partially right. Their endorsement definitely matters in school board races. But it's way more complicated. School board incumbents definitely benefitted from the moderate Seattle voting trends, something The Stranger waned in their influence. @TheStranger

The Stranger is on the defense for not endorsing me in my candidacy for Seattle School Boars Director, District 1. Wow, it's interesting to watch them squirm.

Yesterday @TheStranger refused to publish an op-ed written by nearly a dozen teachers at Dunlap Elementary School in Beacon Hill (SE Seattle) explaining why they support Debbie Carlsen and oppose Liza Rankin for school board. You can read the letter here: bit.ly/VoteCarlsen

The GOP must be trolling. Reyneveld and Topp were chairs of their local Democratic district parties in the last few years. They’re longtime progressive Dems, as is Gitenstein, who worked for Kerry in ‘04 and raised $$ for Biden. All three are endorsed by numerous Dem orgs.

KC Council candidate Sarah Reyneveld, Sofia Agron, Port Commissioner Fred Felleman, school board candidates Christina Posten, Ben Gitenstein, and Gina Topp are the only Seattle candidates to earn a recommendation from the GOP. Not sure how desirable that is in these parts!

The 46th Dems are in the process of passing a resolution around transit, as housing and transit have not stayed up with population trends in North Seattle.

Seattle’s been dithering on rezoning around the future 130th and 145th Street light rail stations. Last week, a Kenmore official blasted Seattle and its mayor for that as the 130th Street infill station has been prioritized. What rezones are ahead? Story: theurbanist.org/2023/04/17/sea…
