EUV (SDO AIA 171) view of the spectacular X3.3 long-duration flare earlier today. The flare lasted about 12 h, before X-ray flux reached the baseline / background. Had this event been Earth-directed we would be expecting a major CME impact within about 36 hours ofthe flare.
Now THIS can push us up to G5 level storming! Combine this with the equinox effect and this could possibly beat May 10th... holy shit #aurora

Here it is, my timelapse from the Bonneville Salt Flats last night. This is only a 2 second interval (1.8s exposure, f/1.8, ISO 1250), so you can see that these lights were MOVING!
My heart is SO full for everyone around the world who got to see the northern lights last night. They are by far my favorite tote natural phenomenon and I am just so gratefulef that everyone got to experience them together. Feels like a giant global unity concert ❤️
