I think people need to understand that activism isn't an avenue to gaining political or leadership roles & governance. The two are two very distinct roles that don't complement each other. I stand corrected though.

Corruption in Kenya or Africa, is NOT Kenya’s or Africa’s biggest problem😐 Rid yourself of these narratives folks keep feeding you to stop you from asking hard questions Look for leaders who understand, and can solve structural and systemic issues A word from Mia on this:

people are not being "devil's advocate". they're highlighting contradictions that are inherent in any movement worth its salt. we build coalitions & power by addressing contradictions & working through differences. not demanding silence.

Guys, the constitution is the answer. Whatever rights it protects, he will back based on his track record for respecting & fighting for it. If we keep asking these questions we will go round in circles looking for a Unicorn. Rely on history + track records before devil advocacy.

Do we have shared values and aspirations as Kenyans? Shared imagination of the Kenya we want to see ?

This could be a good example of how such a case could be less about a contradiction as perceived by a majority & more about the complexity of human behaviours/habits & belief systems.

Was having lunch with a muslim friend talked her into trying my salad cos it was delicious. She takes a bite and we realize at same time it has bacon bits. She’s all “astaghfirullah” & calls the waiter for a drink to ‘wash out her mouth’. This babe proceeds to order a cocktail.

Listening to a history extra podcast and I am shocked to discover that Sudan was a gold source even during the times of ancient Egypt and that the pharaohs built a series of forts on the Nile and waged military campaigns to try and control the trade directly. Plus ca change🤔😭

When it doesn't favour you it's CORRUPTION. When it does favour you it's a CONNECTION.

Someone said Kenyans dont hate CORRUPTION they hate that they are not the ones doing the feasting. A candidate who has no corruption record is anti-KENYA, with no viable path to victory and completely UNACCEPTABLE.

This theory oversimplifies & ignores the broader & complex interrelationship of systemic issues, historical, political, economic, cultural & social factors.

I have a theory as to why African is largely underdeveloped. Our environment does not threaten our survival. A thread 🧵

Grassroots engagement is not only about votes, but recognizing & working within the cultural, social & economic realities of the electorate, the leaders seek to serve, especially women.

Re the current skirmishes on the TL…learned many lessons from the journey leading to Ukweli Party and 2017…still have ptsd 😅. There’s no such thing as a rational voter, meet voters where they are physically/mentally /tribally early and often, it’s expensive WORK, watch Softie.

Politics is local. Any serious 2027 contender will have to understand and speak fluently the language of the average Kenyan voter. Voters, especially rural voters, are more intelligent than we give them credit for. Antagonising them will lead nowhere. Listen, pivot and adapt.

Kamala had won that election kwa social media but kwa ground things were different. Nataka mniconfirmie tukisema tunatoa Ruto after one term we are all on the same page right???

The psychology of voting is mind-blowing. The push-pull between what we want others to believe about us, who we are behind closed doors, and what leads us to choose our political candidates is fascinating.

Hypothetically, could it be possible that some Kenyans are so accustomed to complaining & we do really enjoy while at it. Like we're drawn to the concept of change but don't want it realized, by resisting it-self sabotage, because change disrupts the norms, status quo etc.

If your pitch for your presidential candidate is that people must support without question & without seeing their manifesto then you are advocating for another Must Go. It isn’t just Must Go as an individual but Must Go ideology & their brand of politics that all need to go.

Exactly, Kenyans need to remember that leadership in a democracy is as much as about enabling systems as it is about personal competence.

He has the potential to rally Kenyans seeking genuine governance & reform, however transitioning local victory to a national presidential bid campaign, would need more than goodwill, to navigate Kenya's intricate political landscape. Kenyans need to fully come out in support.

Busia was a strong ODM base. Omtatah went to the ballot with nothing but goodwill. Floored the ODM candidate. No big political party. No financial muscle. No political godfather. Leaders are made by people. By you and me. The time for change is now. I fully support Okiya Omtatah.
