So proud of @BESE_LA for putting kids first!
Proud to see Louisiana's new #schoolaccountability standards unanimously approved by @BESE_LA! These reforms simplify and enhance accountability, focusing on student growth, achievement & college and career readiness.
This bill is for adults not kids! LA must put our kids first. I’m proud of @BESE_LA for continuing to fight for LA’s kids. #lalege
"The bill would 'tie BESE’s hands' and 'water down standards for schools' just as the board is preparing to vote on a new school-accountability system at its June 12 meeting, the letter said. The measure would also diminish the usefulness of the ACT, 'an invaluable tool' for…
So proud of LA! And extremely thankful for great partners who make high dosage tutoring a reality for kids in LA! #lalege
Louisiana is leading on tutoring and learning loss recovery because of @LAKidsMatter @kellibottger @Accelerate_US and @TeachForAmerica - one of the very coolest things happening in education in this country today. Proof point for access.
This bill is for adults not kids. It will limit postsecondary options. It will reduce the funding kids can access for postsecondary. And it will lead to further gaming & inflation of high school letter grades. Gross. Adults looking out for adults, not Louisiana’s young people.
Most jobs paying a living wage require education & training after high school. “College” includes LCTCS/community colleges or “trade schools.” We should broaden, not limit, students’ opportunities instead of prioritizing high school ratings. #lalege theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/ne…

“Many of our children have their ceilings lowered” This professor speaks on how to educate black kids. And I agree the lowering of standards & expectations has been catastrophic. Public School “advocates” please listen as she does not mention $ the whole entire interview. #nced
Professor Gloria Ladson-Billings explains to 60 Minutes how an encouraging teacher can change a life. The University of Wisconsin academic has studied how to best teach Black students. cbsn.ws/3WLWcqn

Nebraska Democrat Senator Justin Wayne: "My community can't wait another generation..if we care about kids..then get rid of the politics of it & let's just give them a chance." He just voted for school choice. The bill passed 33 to 13. It needed 33 votes to avoid a filibuster.
And just like that, Nebraska students won tonight. Thank you, #neleg, and especially to Senator Lou Ann Linehan. #SchoolChoice
What a day in the Great State of Louisiana where @RepJasonHughes gave a speech to support ESA’s that had me in tears, and a total of 6 black dems joined together to ignore the status quo and fight for the dignity of their kids. No one is entitled to our kids or their $. Period!…
Louisiana Democrat Rep. Jason Hughes ON FIRE: "As I watch children in poverty, trapped in failing schools, who can hardly read, I'd be damned if I will continue to defend the status quo." The bill just passed the House 71 to 32. SIX Democrats voted for UNIVERSAL SCHOOL CHOICE.
I’m beyond proud of my dear friend @RepJasonHughes He has ALWAYS put kids first. #lalege
APPLAUSE FROM THE CHAMBER for Jason Hughes: "I know the political ramifications for me for voting for this bill. But I don't need this $16,800 a year job bad enough to watch our children continue to live in poverty, trapped in failing schools, and not try to do something.…

A great day for Louisiana! Parents are the most important voice in their child’s education!
Happy to see the GATOR Scholarship Program pass out of committee today! From day one, I have said that parents are the most important voice in their child's education.
A majority of Fentanyl overdoses are accidental. Young people are dying because they think they are buying Adderall, Xanax, Oxy etc. So in addition to the “Rainbow Fentanyl” bill passed during the special crime session that will be signed into law today by @LAGovJeffLandry, I…
