Thank you @bmj_latest for sharing my perspective on covid, from Venezuela, and why we must “centre equity over exceptionalism, as a path that is not only morally robust, but also one on which we are all better off.” #medtwitter
"Managing the covid-19 pandemic requires an understanding that essential healthcare, including covid vaccines, should never be framed as gifts from the rich to the poor, but as entitlements in a world that values human life equally." @kateotto bmj.com/content/376/bm…
As an internist/primary care doctor and mother, I stand with #DoctorsForGunSafety. Gun violence causes needless, horrific death. Surviving gun violence can entail debilitating injury, paralysis, pain, trauma. We have an obligation to our patients to support action on gun safety.
If you are a doctor or healthcare worker who supports action on gun safety tweet #DoctorsForGunSafety
Fellow tweeters: I’m currently looking for writing/translating gigs! Can do English and Spanish, in-site reporting in Mexico City and online reporting/research/translation everywhere in the world (and I can literally write about anything). A RT is also helpful :)

Thank you @rachel_kowalsky for this absolutely beautiful short story exploring what it means to 'be seen' in medicine.

Seven years ago today I walked out of the hospital after surviving Ebola. That day at a news conference—my knees shaking—I begged the world to focus on the still-raging outbreak in West Africa. Instead, when the immediate threat was over, we moved on. Years later, Covid hit 🧵
A must-read, moving essay by the inimitable and deeply compassionate Dr. Mgbako. Thank you for sharing, so beautifully, the power of a therapeutic doctor-patient relationship.
In this long season of loss, this is surely a triumph. My patient Jim means the world to me, so I wrote about our relationship, rooted in poetry, for The New Yorker. I’m so happy to share this with the world. For Jim. newyorker.com/science/annals…
Loneliness and isolation are such important risk factors for worsening disease in HIV care and in all chronic disease. We need more resources to fight despair. #lessonsfromclinic
