This is why I left J-school feeling as though young ppl interested in pursuing journalism as a career should not study it in undergrad. That time should instead be taken to study history, political science, philosophy — to broaden your relation to & understanding of the world.
It’s been shocking to see the lack of historical context provided in too many stories about the #Israel- #Palestine conflict. As journalism educators we need to prepare our students to tell critical stories. They need to be studying more history/philosophy/political theory.
