I guess even in virtual spaces there’s no consensus about lat lon or lon lat. At least @tmcw keeps the GIS list: macwright.com/lonlat/
Fun to understand how the internet works without paying giant companies to run things for you Just one dedicated server (computer) on the internet that hosts your stuff and is part of the network (internet)
Was the Internet Archive (@internetarchive) hacked? 😬I got this JS alert while loading an archived page. cc: @troyhunt
Funniest cookie modal I've seen (somehow not blocked by my uBlock Origin setup). Nice work, @how_to_code_it
it's so crazy how the smartest, most talented friends you know are stuck at jobs making them so sad
It's truly unhinged just how much enterprise software prevents people from just doing their jobs
How is tagging more than 2-3 people at a time not an immediate signal of spamming? Do non-spam accounts tag 10+ in multiple posts per day? So tedious to report these over and over, @elonmusk
I think todays designers have got really good at designing static screens which sit along the “happy path”, but struggle to understand what happens in the gaps between.
there's this kind of depression I can't seem to shake off and the only way I can describe it is that over the past 3 years or so, we got a backstage tour, and now that things are back to "normal" it's impossible to watch the show in the same way
Design is easy. You just write 100 emails a day, attend 6 or 7 meetings and then start designing at 4:45pm.
What is well-being? Here is one concept: well-being as value-fulfillment This is an alternative to the hedonic view adopted by many utilitarians, in which only affective feeling (positive vs. negative mental experience) matters
If I had enough money, I'd buy the whole @figmadesign company, just to protect it from meddling. That's how much I < 3 it.
“‘I don't have what I need.’ 🙄 Well isn't that just the story of our industry [making web sites].”—@amanda_does_ux
There's 447M people in the EU, 92% have internet (411M) Let's say they "accept cookies" 5x/day Let's say it takes 1 second to accept them That's 2 Billion wasted seconds every day That's 24,000 person-days wasted every day Did anyone in the EU ever think about this...
“Digital transformation” is often just a fancy way of saying that your teams have to copy and paste between 5-7 systems to update the website
"The oracle processed groupthink as poetry. Its pronouncements containerized ambiguity. The oracle's way of creating new things in the world was to convert nonsense into sense." —@kholetrends #5
This is, basically, also me. Yet now there's a list of almost-role-models thanks to Chappell for tweeting!
Hello! I turned 37 today. I have no model for being a woman of this age who is childless and plays video games and edits wiki pages for fun and doesn't have long-term goals aside from having an excellent time on Earth. But if this is also you, we can be each others' models 😊
I wrote a poem called, "If Everything Is a Signal".
We need a modern @jwz's law: "Every program attempts to expand until it can read mail, host text/audio/video chat, and share screens/state. Those programs which cannot so expand are replaced by ones which can." cc: @figmadesign 👀
