Wellingborough Walks Action Group did it! Took the council and a massive developer to court - and won. It's been quite the story to follow from early protests to @paulpowlesland being arrested to the High Court. Off to Wellingborough for the next chapter northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/people/tr…

At Royal Courts of Justice with the brave tree campaigners @wellywag for their judicial review challenging the decision of North Northants Council to allow the felling of the Wellingborough Lime Trees, one of the longest avenues of lime trees in the country & protected by TPO’s

I decided to take some biscuits into school tomorrow, but thought I'd better check with @educationgovuk that I wasn't contravening regulations. I checked - has anyone else had a chance to read this yet? Might be worth bringing to the attention of your SLT asap. #teachertwitter

The recent spate of tree felling is covered in this article in the Economist. Being the Economist, I don’t agree with all of its arguments or framing, but it’s interesting that the issue of tree destruction is making its way into mainstream publications economist.com/britain/2023/0…

This is the worst advice I have ever read. Her husband is lazy and disrespectful and she is justifiably upset. I got divorced for this reason at that age and could not have been happier. It’s not perimenopause, it’s the man. Stop making excuses for men. theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2…

SAVE OUR TREES - Campaigners won a tree protection planning policy at North Northants Council last night for all trees with TPOs. This is too late for the limes on The Walks, although Vistry were invited to resubmit plans for the Wellingborough trees. saveourtrees.co.uk/blog

Welcome to Wellingborough. @NNorthantsC have spent a fortune on a stupid, attention-seeking tourist office on a poncy retail park you can only really drive to; meanwhile this is what they leave us living with. A point for each sign of a failed town centre, and each H&S hazard.

See that little white post? It marks the gas main. That’s why they want to take down ALL the trees in the photo. NB The gas main was put in *after* the trees were mature. Please sign our petition! change.org/p/save-our-tre…

The trees we are trying to save are NOT in Stanton Cross. They are part of The Walks Wellingborough, which run all the way from opp Swanspool Gdns to the river Nene. It seems like an important point to make.
