Last night's @C4Dispatches was an insult to the millions of Disabled people on the poverty line. Why is blame placed at our feet for helping one another access the support we need to survive, not the complex bureaucratic barriers placed in our way by the social security system?

“This degree is a waste of money—” Must everything be measured in terms of wages and profits? Shouldn’t it be enough just to read, to learn, to contribute to the sum total of the world’s knowledge? Dismissing the value of scholarship and the humanities is a kind of poverty.
