Very happy that our work on HIV nuclear entry is now out as a preprint. Check out the thread for a summary. The most surprising finding was that the capsid appears to crack the NPC scaffold as revealed by cryo-ET and template matching. #teamtomo t1p.de/gdez6

In a great collaboration with @HummerLab and the Kräusslich lab, @jpkreysing, @MaziarHeidari1, @VojtechZila and others tackle what happens when HIV capsid goes through an NPC. Instead of the NPC cracking the capsid, the capsid appears to crack the NPC (@MPIbp @CiidHeidelberg).

… and perfect timing. Work by @HuaipengXing with @FrydmanLab out @Nature PDCD5 binds virtually all open #TRiC, while closed TRiC forms clusters inside of cells. Congrats to all authors. rdcu.be/d3dmN

Did you know that nuclear pore complexes can turn up outside the nuclear envelope? Studying these, @JennySachweh, Bernhard Hampoelz and others uncover that the surrounding cellular milieu determines NPC composition via the nuclear transport system itself. #teamtomo #NPC A 🧵

How can genetic perturbation of a central scaffolding component of the #nuclearpore result in a tissue specific defect? Work by @Reiya_Tan1guch1 and others in collaboration with @DoyeValerie makes this more conceivable (@MPIbp @IJMonod): biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Great to see this method out as a preprint now. It has been an invaluable tool for me over the last months.
