AGIs should be banned full stop. Landlords should be responsible for making their own properties "sustainable" using the rent they collect. Anything else is greenwashing corporate greed

NEW: ⁦@CBCNews⁩ investigation reveals how a few big companies are behind a large proportion of applications at Ontario’s Landlord & Tenant Board to raise rent above province’s annual rent control guideline. Solid reporting here by ⁦@Alowishoescbc.ca/news/investiga…

It's no wonder CTV's coverage of Israel's violence in Gaza is so one-sided. Internal emails show journalists are forbidden from using the term "Palestine," with a senior editor making the charged claim that "Palestine...does not currently exist." breachmedia.ca/ctv-bell-media…

Wow! Largest year over year rent increases in canada in 30 years

Y/Y rent increases largest in 30 years at 6.5%! High int rates increase interest costs for landlords who try to jack up rent so tenants pay it. Also high int rates make it so people can't move out of rentals as buying too expensive...so rents go through the roof.

In the video, he blames the housing crisis on Trudeau, but then shifts to an analysis of how *city* regulations (“red tape”) are the cause. These regulations, he says, inflate the costs of housing, and his entire plan is to force/encourage cities to remove them. 2/18

Significant housing problems are caused by the loss of existing forms of housing to #renovictions, conversions of long-term to short-term rentals, and above-guideline rent increases. Thanks @renovictions @colefwebber for doing this important work! renovictionsto.com/RenovictionsTO…

While landlords get richer, the rest of us face unfair rent hikes and eviction. I support the call from trade unions and the renters movement for a #RentFreezeNow. bit.ly/3IlPLkY

City Council should tear up Tory’s budget, open up 24/7 warming centres immediately and declare homelessness a humanitarian crisis. It's time to go way beyond plugging potholes and start permanently fixing Toronto’s structural problems.

#YSW Councillor Nunziata just voted to hide receipts for about $3M of public money pertaining to 2022 municipal campaigns, including the receipts of her own campaign. This is the first time council is hiding campaign receipts. What’s so special about the 2022 election? 👀

Fletcher's motion to make the requirement to submit campaign receipts retroactive to the 2022 election FAILS 10-16.

Wow. No name. Now with 18.5% less content… that is a large variance! Definitely report to CFIA?

In a shameful move, Doug Ford and John Tory are undermining democracy in Toronto with Bill 39, that allows the mayor to win votes with the support of only 1/3 of City Council. Majority rule is a key part of democracy. Sign @progresstoronto's petition progresstoronto.ca/our-city
