A small change with a big impact. With just one environment variable, GR becomes interactive! `GRDISPLAY=plot julia ...` #JuliaLang, see gr-framework.org/blog/posts/grm…

More than 80k filled triangles displayed in 0.022 seconds using #JuliaLang 1.10.0-DEV (35% improvement compared to Julia 1.8.4).

Complaints about "time-to-first-plot" (TTFP) are hopefully no longer an issue with the upcoming Julia 1.9 release. Thanks to the @JuliaLanguage core developers who made this possible ...

#iTerm2 inline plotting also works on remote hosts within #Python when using GR as a backend for #Matplotlib

Using #JuliaLang and GR.jl efficiently on remote systems, e.g. HPC clusters, using #iTerm2 (see gr-framework.org/blog/posts/ite…)

Good news to the #JuliaLang community: GR now supports a frequently requested feature: inline math in text, labels and annotations:

HiDPI matters. GR.jl 0.58.1 now offers Retina resolution for graphics and LaTeX formulas on all output devices: Windows GKS QtTerm, macOS GKSTerm and iTerm2 (with any remote #JuliaLang interpreter).

iTerm2 output is now automatically selected in non-GUI console environments when (remotely) using GR in #JuliaLang - with the next iTerm2 version, you even get plots in Retina resolution.

Although #JuliaLang 1.6 has much shorter package load times, it's still more fun with a pre-compiled system image.

Do you want to visualise the spherical harmonics in class, let's say like in electrodynamics or quantum mechanics. Take a look at this, done with #julialang and @MakiePlots shorturl.at/irQYZ

With #JuliaLang v1.6.0 the package loading time for GR went down to 0.1 seconds. Simple scientific figures can be plotted in a few milliseconds, even with LaTeX labels: github.com/jheinen/GR.jl/…

I started implementing missing functions in GR.jl (e.g. colored lines or marker symbols with individual attributes) to speed up Plots.jl and to improve the quality of graphics created with #JuliaLang.

With #JuliaLang, #Pluto and #Jupyter you are now well equipped for Scientific Visualization or #DataScience in general compared to similar alternatives: gr-framework.org/blog/posts/alt…

Mplay.jl version 1.1 is out. Provides a new text user interface and better hard- and software support (Apple arm64, #JuliaLang 1.7). Have fun making music. github.com/JuliaMusic/Mpl…

Thanks to the #JuliaLang community for pointing out the CImGui.jl package - opens up new possibilities for interactive applications with GR.

Pleased to see that GR runs natively under macOS 11 Big Sur on arm64 (Apple M1) using #SwiftLang. Now the only thing missing is a native #JuliaLang distribution.
