We remember the UCA martyrs killed #OTD 34 years ago in El Salvador. Jon Sobrino: their deaths are a testimony to the poor that “in this cruel world there are human beings who have defended and loved them.” He adds, “may they rest in peace but not let us rest in peace.” #presente

Saint Joan of Arc Chapel on MU’s campus. When I brought Pd. Cardoso, Vatican rep for Sport here we found a quiet place for prayerful reflection. ⁦@PresLovell⁩ ⁦@MarquetteU⁩ ⁦My heart is filled with gratitude, my soul filled with joy. “Blessed are those who play!”

A whirlwind three days which ended with an ode to victory over Rider. We learned about a theology of sport @Pontifex which brings us beyond ourselves, our families and our nations. The triumph of the human spirit is so much greater! Blessed are those who play! @MarquetteTheo

Thanks to @MarquetteU @PresLovell and VP Fr. @johntdsj for welcoming and hosting us at the 2023 Sport at the Service of Humanity Conference. The SSH conference is inspired by @Pontifex and brings together the passion of sport with the values and power of faith to serve humanity.…

Pope Francis at Synod on Synodality: “Come, you who are weary and oppressed, come, you who have lost your way or feel far away, come, you who have closed the doors to hope: the church is here for you!Tutti, tutti, tutti! (Everyone, everyone, everyone!)” t.ly/H-Isx

Marquette's Haggerty Musuem has a great Tolkien exhibit this semester. Coincidentally, Marquette vow classmate wrote this:The salvific power of beauty is an essential part of Tolkien’s belief system. americamagazine.org/arts-culture/2… via @americamag @MarquetteTheo @peterjfritz #marquette

Actions sometimes mean more than words, being and connecting with people one of this Pope’s greatest strengths. @CardinalBCupich @jesuitczerny @pauljschutz @marcusmescher @peterjfritz @Isepulvedadel @aselak @ereimerbarry @CCamosy @SIMission @CNS_Rhina @PaulitaPike @seanforclay

Pope Francis’ nearness, especially in his meetings with indigenous peoples, was the hallmark of his Apostolic Journey to Canada, which was filled with actions to underscore the penitential dimension he wanted to lend to the visit. @AGisotti ow.ly/Zhhy50K7YtL

I think you are just trying to irritate brother and especially Minnesota Jesuits with this tweet. @tmanattsj @jflahertysj @fschultenoversj @bosbornesj @rjfichtsj the gauntlet has been thrown @tmcnultysj

Catholic Twitter has too many fights that are niche and internal, so I've decided to start a much broader one: Bob Dylan is a terrible musician in all respects.

Very cool Ken, wish we would go back to Friday night ordinations so more could be there. CTSA conflict still exists, but glad it was a beautiful event! JT SJ

One of my favorite parts of ordinations is the laying on of hands. I was struck today by the elderly priest who struggled to walk but committed to blessing; and the priests ordained last year who got to bless for the first time. A beautiful and emotional morning!

So Sorry Rhina! I always appreciated the news you provided!

I rarely use caps but THANK YOU for your messages regarding the closing of U.S. operations for @CatholicNewsSvc I think we're more concerned with the state of Catholic media, the future for our amazing and brave clients, than with ourselves. Each day in journalism is privilege

Well it was the inquisition right? They imprisoned people for far less or ? @KenHomanSJ @peterjfritz @monticello2018 @mike_shinnick @nimperatori @ereimerbarry @jaybarry @Isepulvedadel @delcamposj @JamesMartinSJ

#OTD in 1527, St. Ignatius was imprisoned for the first of three times, in Alcala, Spain, where he was studying and conversing with people on spiritual topics. The charge was always the same: that he dared to speak of theological matters when he did not have a theology degree.
