Just heard the Home Secretary stand up in Parliament and declare that "the British people support the Rwanda plan". I'm sick of these guys telling me what I support. I do not support the "Rwanda plan". If you don't either, please retweet.

Dear 🇬🇧, Just finished a night shift in A&E and feeling wrecked. If you have a job that has a "going home checklist" like this, you deserve better pay and conditions. Full stop. #SOSNHS

We are experiencing a global cost of living increase for working people If any company is recording record profits, then something is wrong. If this is accepted as ok, the system is broken We are people on one planet. Corporate greed has no place here We need change

Because so many people have bought in to the idea of buying privilege for their children believing that’s what nadir god parenting ! We have only to look at the conduct of the current ruling “elite”to see what privilege and self-interest does to truth, honesty,& justice

600,000 children go to private schools and two million kids go hungry. So tell me why we subsidise private school fees but not free school meals.

Vaccinated a man today- when I told him I’m an SaLT he said: “You have no idea how much I respect your profession. I’m a throat cancer survivor and your colleagues saved my life. You gave me my life back when I had to relearn how to swallow. You’re truly underrated” ❤️ #mySLTday

“It’s a year since I heard a hymn sung, but it’s strange how, if we focus on it, the music we hear inwardly can almost surpass what we hear physically. It has a greater purity, as if it has acquired a new body.” Dietrich Bonhoeffer in prison, 1944. #Lockdown

Heard a lovely story from @SocialPedagogy of a boy who misheard his label ‘vulnerable’ as ‘valuable’- the organisation decided to adopt this term.

When one is defined as ”vulnerable”, to distinguish them from the broader population (even when well-intentioned), the effect is to categorise & segregate, not make powerful. They are crudly defined by the sum of their needs; the result is they no longer feel needed (devalued).

I’m not convinced the exam result debacle results from error by government - there’s been increasingly vocal lobbying by fee-paying parents who see positive action by uni’s to broaden their student cohort has devalued attempts to buy privilege - this was a deliberate payback

This is a powerful & important thread. As a white sister I want to play my part in dismantling white supremacy. Grateful for friends who raise insistent, consistent & persistent voices of rage, power, compassion, truth &hope. @BCWLindsay @ChiomaYouthwork @ChineMcDonald @JENDELLA

My white sisters and brothers, let’s move from “I’m sorry” to “Let’s dismantle white supremacy”. One shows empathy—which is so, so important any people’s struggle—but the other embodies solidarity. One stays personal, the other moves to the public and political.

COVID19 does not treat the rich and poor equally. It is not the great leveller. It magnifies inequality. Those in lowpaid frontline jobs are more at risk; they are more exposed. The lockdown is harder on those who live in cramped tower blocks, their mental health is more at risk.
