My initial take on Trump's win: goodauthority.org/news/where-to-… His gains were widespread, so explanations should start with the broadest factors -- not with bespoke stories about states, cities, counties, and groups. The simplest explanation: party of unpopular incumbent loses. 1/2
Part two: a visit to the Ford Library.
Thanks so much for inviting me to your class, @annabellehutch! Grateful to have a chance to talk about the presidency with your amazing Hamilton students.
Thankful for John Dearborn @johnadearborn for virtually visiting my introductory American Politics course last week! I always learn new things from John's talks - he's a great teacher and scholar.
Unfortunately, I couldn't attend @APSAtweets this year, but I am honored to share this award with @chris_piper
This panel was great. I enjoyed reading all the papers. Unitary Executive Theory, Bureaucratic Performance, Congressional / Presidential Budget Power, the effectiveness of the Impoundment Control Act, and the managerial presidency of William Howard Taft.
Excited to be part of a great panel tomorrow morning at 8 AM on Executive Power and Bureaucratic Politics. #APSA2024
I’m thrilled to announce that the first chapter of my dissertation is now available to read, cite, and/or stare at lovingly at PRQ! I demonstrate how presidents strategically alter the traceability of directives through publication and publicity to avoid sanctions from Congress.

@VandyPoliSci Prof @johnadearborn quoted in recent @Salon article: Some Trump Cabinet officials pushed back on extreme demands. Experts say that won't happen next time salon.com/2024/08/14/som…
