I have taught the same class for 3 years now and they’re about to take their first maths gcse tomorrow morning. I am lying in bed just as nervous as if it was my exam! My job isn’t just a job. I’m so proud of these kids!
maybe paying teachers a fair wage so that students are taught by a specialist. Or giving maths teachers a fair workload. Or not bashing teachers so that they stay in the profession. Teachers are not the problem. Lack of time/workload/perceptions are the real problems.
We joke about not being able to do maths, but we’d never make a joke about not being able to read. Our plans today bring us one step closer to changing our anti-maths mindset and ensuring every young person has the skills needed for a successful future.
