If you’re not a manager or leader, you are *still* setting the standard for your coworkers on how an “ideal” employee deals with a positive case

If you’re a manager or a leader choosing to "work through" Covid, you are setting the standard for how the people who report to you should “ideally” deal with their own cases, regardless of severity: annehelen.substack.com/p/the-normaliz…

But also yourself!! So many people are out there trying to tell you to rest if you can twitter.com/netlibrarian/s…

People are very eager to come up with justifications for this practice — you can already see it in the replies to this thread. I understand them, but I also think that they're the result of productivity brainworms, and you're doing a real disservice to others in your organization

REST WHEN YOU'RE SICK!! Seriously! Your value as a person is not tied to how productive you are.

The last two months I've watched something curious happen: very Covid-conscientious people, people with paid time off, people who can work from home.....testing positive for Covid and then, unless they're hospitalized, insisting on working through it: annehelen.substack.com/p/the-normaliz…

11. So very low cost, and if it keeps a round of COVID out of my family, very large benefit. I guess what people should ask themselves is why they are so enraged to see someone perfectly happy in a comfortable yet protective mask while working outside of the house.

8. The question you might ask is: Come on, is it really worth it? How high is the risk of getting or giving COVID in your office? What I would say is that the price to pay is very small, and the benefit hard to estimate in probability but very high in impact.

6. Now, there are 2 reasons to wear a mask - to protect me from you, and to protect you from me. My wife treats COVID patients, many unmasked, and my kids go to mask-optional schools. So I could be a source at any point, and I would rather not infect my department.

4. COVID is transmitted through the air via aerosols, and can linger for a long time. So just because a person isn’t there now doesn’t mean there is no COVID in the air.

The urgent need for a Covid Action Plan for Schools: Aotearoa NZ's current schools policy isn’t following #Covid science, exposing students, staff, and their families to an array of preventable risks. NZ needs to do better for the pandemic generation. bit.ly/3wwtAlS

Reminder if you're still RAT+ @ day 7, chances are you're still infectious. Nobody told the virus the govt reduced the iso period and infectious period varies btwn ppl: nature.com/articles/s4156… For the sake of another day or 2 at home please don't risk taking out a load more ppl

I'll gather some for you! But indeed this is dangerous/short-sighted. Once positive on an antigen test, people should consider themselves infectious until their antigen test turns negative. I am not sure where @minhealthnz is getting this dangerous misinformation.

After months of work my collections policy was finally officially approved!! I'm feeling quite chuffed.

Labour voted against it. It’s a disservice to the communities that we serve to create a cost of living payment that excludes people on the benefit and under 18’s, who continue facing cost of living pressures. We need liveable incomes for all now!

We’re tabling an amendment to the Cost of Living Payments Bill to ensure that the $350 reaches people receiving a main benefit and superannuants. If the Government acknowledges low income people are facing cost of living pressures they need to include people on benefits!

We need you to Colour Our Place, Scott Base! Scott Base is Aotearoa New Zealand's home on the ice, so we reckon Kiwis should decide what colour it will be. Help us make history and cast your vote here: bit.ly/3FODWSH #ColourScottBase #ScottBaseRedevelopment

We understand however that our statement overlooked the importance of Indigenous communities being able to connect with and wear museum objects from their community. 4/9

Over the last few days @PuawaiCairns has called us out over our statement about wearing historic dress from museum collections following Kim Kardashian’s appearance at the Met Gala in a dress famously worn by Marilyn Monroe. In this thread we’d like to respond & apologize. 1/9

One million American deaths due to COVID since 2020 is the equivalent of three 9/11s every week for two years straight. It's as many deaths in two years as all American combat deaths in every war since the 18th century. Irrational "coronaphobia" is absolutely not a thing.

Got my flu shot! Super quick and as an added bonus used the 15 minute observation period to practice for an upcoming zui.
