the ultimate Love already gave infinitely more than i ever could, and it meets me with grace right where i am. it sanctifies and satisfies, making me long to rest in His mercy and strive to be more like Him.

Thread: Because of the more-than-usual antipathy toward my tweet about sex only within marriage, I think some response is warranted. 1st, many disagree with the term ‘dehumanize’. We obviously mean very different things by this term & lots of my critics disagree among themselves.

Black residents helped settle Glencoe, Ill. But as home prices soared, few members of its historic Black church could afford to stay. "When people would ask me, 'how long have you been in town?' ... I was here first. You came to my town," a member says. trib.al/NdLdTPZ

Gossip is “pornography of the mouth” because it seeks the same thing that a lustful fantasy seeks: a cheap thrill at another person’s expense, while making zero effort to connect with or commit to that person. It dehumanizes, turning them into a thing to be used.

Christians and the freedom of conscience in politics. The Bible binds my conscience to care for the poor, but it does not tell me the best practical way to do it. Any particular strategy (high taxes and government services vs low taxes and private charity) may be good and wise...

Damn. My dear friend @GilbertLiz sees me. Her journal pages may need warning labels. I had the same gut-punch-bear-hug feeling when my therapist told me that I needed to work on my "Let go and let Brené" approach to life. Ouch and thank you at the same time. ❤️

Many people are looking for an ear that will listen. They do not find it among Christians, because (they) are talking where they should be listening. But he who can no longer listen to his brother will soon be no longer listening to God either. D Bonhoeffer

When I became a Christ-follower at 19 my grandfather discipled me 2-3 hours a day, 4-5 days a week at the edge of his bed for 7 months before he died. This is me at 20 years old. I still remember our conversations on prayer, holiness and his love of Trinitarian theology.

“I see no color” is not the goal. “I see your color and I honor you. I value your input. I will be educated about your lived experiences. I will work against the racism that harms you. You are beautiful. Tell me how to do better.” ... That’s the goal.

My anthropology is rooted in Genesis 1 where humanity is deemed “VERY good” (rather than starting with an Augustinian notion of “original sin”). So no matter how disappointed I am by someone’s behavior, I can always say, “You’re better than this” and mean it.

Although our celebrations may look different this year, our unwavering faith remains the same. For me, Easter is a time of hope––a reminder of rebirth and renewal––and a belief in a better day to come. From my family to yours, we wish you all a blessed and joyful Easter.
