🔺EXCLUSIVE: Rosie Duffield (@RosieDuffield1) has resigned as a Labour MP, blaming Sir Keir Starmer’s “cruel and unnecessary” policies and the freebies row that is engulfing him and his party

Daniel Reposted

Somehow I thought she'd live forever. RIP Dame Maggie Smith.

Rosie Duffield was one of the few female Labour politicians with the guts to stand up for vulnerable women and girls, while self-satisfied numbskulls like you fought to give away their rights and spaces. TL;DR Keep her name out of your mouth.

No matter your views on her stated reasons for quitting, Rosie Duffield has made a political career out of dehumanising one of the most marginalised groups in society. She should never have been allowed the privilege of resigning. Labour should have withdrawn the whip long ago.

Surely #TimDavie should be saying ‘Huw Edwards will NEVER work at @BBCNews again’. @BBCNews is really struggling on so many levels to keep public faith at the moment.

I agree with this. These aren’t just images they are real children . Real lives destroyed and by looking for it -it perpetuates a market. @soniasodha

I’m not someone who thinks we should be ratcheting up sentencing across the board… but I really do think we need to look at sentencing for viewing child abuse imagery online. These are real crimes with real - child - victims. theguardian.com/media/2024/sep…

How old was the youngest child ? What kind of message does this send out to children that have been groomed and abused.

Couldn’t you find it in your hearts to call her a woman @BBCNews ?

Remember: This is what Chancellor Rachel Reeves persists in calling “the worst economic inheritance since World War Two”.

UK labour market remains stronger than expected: unemployment rate fell from 4.4 per cent in the second quarter to 4.2 per cent, defying expectations of a rise to 4.5 per cent. Wage growth slows but still well ahead of inflation: weekly earnings growth, excluding bonuses, fell…

I think Starmer’s decision to go hard on the troublemakers today was ill-judged. Not because those responsible for the violence don’t deserve condemnation. But because people will see it as another example of double standards. Why didn’t he say the same things after Leeds?

If this relentlessly wet - sometimes extreme - weather is linked to climate change, we really have screwed ourselves.

Today marks 19 years since the horrific 7/7 terror attacks where 52 people lost their lives and many more were injured. Today we remember them, their families and the efforts of our emergency services. We will always stand united against those who attempt to divide us.

It’s the greatest privilege to be asked to serve as Home Secretary. The first duty of Government is to keep our country & communities safe and our borders secure. The work to get neighbourhood police back on our streets & to strengthen our border security starts now.

NEW Labour frontbencher Jonathan Ashworth loses his seat in Leicester South to an independent

Daniel Reposted

Starmer wins his seat comfortably, but he has lost more than 10,000 votes. Not a brilliant look for a new prime minister

Daniel Reposted

Labour wins Sunderland South. No surprise there but ... Reform UK is in a strong second place, way ahead of the Conservatives. That is extraordinary. More analysis at @GBNEWS .
