THIS MILLION TIMES OVER

How's yours going? I confess I'm struggling.

This happened entirely outside my volition but incidentally reflects really well how I feel about November

As I tend to say (including to men fond of explaining my work to me), there's no-one who wishes I would be proven wrong more than I do.

I fear Trump is going to win and there's going to be civil war in the US

A month ago, and bottom-up initiatives to protect health remain important as ever, given soaring Covid rates in the UK and zero public protections, including in schools and hospitals

If you missed this two weeks ago, my talk on liberal fatalism and the politics of impossibility at the fantastic conference organised by @winslow_la is now online! (bonus: you can hear me speaking in my rusty French for about 2 mins at the beginning 🤭. the rest is in English).

Don't let anyone ever tell you public education campaigns on social media do not work :) x

Example: one of the many windows in English public transport that are closed. As the windows are steaming, that indicates that there has been little ventilation. It's a full bus, there are (of course) people coughing & sneezing, and I am (predictably) the only masked person on it

Btw: none of these readings are about Trump

🚨 Reading First Aid 🚨 Already bracing for the slew of liberal men who will Explain Trump's Victory to you? Fear not. I have the antidote - some of the reading that sustained me over the past year (yes, it's been a dark one, esp. if you have the gift of foresight). Thread 👇

I've just had to leave a union training meeting because the room was unsafe from a Covid (and any virological) perspective. It was a difficult decision to make, but we cannot fight for our colleagues' health and wellbeing if we are not prepared to stand up for ours.

Ventilaaaateee (e.g., England: when there is a sign on the window saying "please try to keep this window open for ventilation" that means you should *open the window*) *no, not like open wide and reduce indoor temperature to freezing, but keep ajar so as air can circulate
