Honoured that our @tartobs @unitartu research has been highlighted in the latest @Nature issue: nature.com/articles/d4158… Big thanks to @NicFlem, @larjamiisa, @xalekter, Andres Kuusk for making this happen.

What do I and @algore have in common? We both attended the DSCOVR mission Science Team Meeting at @NASAGoddard last week. Sitting less than 1 m away from the 45th Vice President of the United States, I could not but admire his immaculate sense for shoe fashion. Those boots rock!

At @NASAGoddard, I presented our Estonian Research Council-funded, @dscovr_epic mission research in front of Dr. Jack Kaye, Associate Director for Research, @NASA Earth Science. Grateful for opportunity by Dr. Alexander Marshak (left), Deputy Project Scientist for DSCOVR mission!

Congratulations to Dr. Kairi Adamson, who successfully defended her dissertation! First-authorship/contribution in 10 published papers (5 in the thesis), 3 kids, not a small achievement! Also thanks to committee and great opponent, Dr. Loïc Tadrist (Aix-Marseille Université)!

Thrilled to visit @jan_pisek & @xalekter and their team at @tartuobs @unitartu via a mobility project from @CzechAcademy & the Estonian Academy of Sciences! Using novel approaches to create 3D models of #spruce and #pine shoots for the #DART radiative transfer model!

Upcoming talk at #EGU24 (co-authors @xalekter, Andres Kuusk): Topic: Estimation of coniferous shoot structures by high precision blue light 3D photogrammetry scanning (meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU24/EGU24-45…) Date: Apr 17 (Wed) 2024, 12:07-12:17 (CEST) Location: Room 2.95

The last stop this time round, @ICOS_Norunda If it weren't for the mast, I couldn't tell it is the same place after the forest was clearcut. But there are young spruces, pines to be sampled too! Anders and Irene were very kind to me. Campaign supported by @eLTER_Europe

The scaffolding by @ActrisSweden at @icossweden Svartberget helps to bring tree crowns closer and makes collecting shoot samples much easier. Anyone who has tried to operate those > 10 m long extendable tree pruners knows what I am talking about! Campaign support by @eLTER_Europe

Getting from @HyytialaHY to @icossweden Svartberget, you get to use the world’s northernmost all year round passenger route @wasaline_fi If I were not into vegetation, I would be most certainly doing sea ice! Or could there be a link? Field campaign supported by @eLTER_Europe

Hyytiälä (@HyytialaHY) is the first stop on the winter leg of #NEEDLESCAN,@eLTER_Europe supported project tour through select @ICOS_RI stations to obtain high-resolution needle shoot scans. The redesigned forest station is so cool even street lamps bend to match its angles!

Please RT. Come join me - I offer a fully funded #PhD position on a nice, exciting topic – retrieval of leaf angle info with multi-angle #remotesensing. 🇪🇪 @unitartu @tartuobs International candidates welcome! Apply by 20 March 2024, full details here: tinyurl.com/y448a4pa

Where's Waldo? kind of moment for #GEDI mission contributors during @jamesrkellner talk, session convened by @ArmstonJohn at #AGU23. It is nice when people do this even if they do not really have to. @tartuobs @unitartu happy to have contributed. @GEDI_Knights

Our group at @tartuobs @unitartu (including @xalekter, Andres Kuusk on pic) was happy to host the first visitor @weiwei_rs after our #AGU23 showcase (agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/meeti…) to discuss how our scanning system could possibly improve studying radiative transfer in conifers, #SIF.

saw this interesting postcard by @cmshintani, @WoodwellClimate at #AGU2023. Last time I checked the Arctic Circle was still running at 66° 34' N (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arctic_Ci…), but thanks for the update! Does it come with midnight sun as well?

Upcoming invited talk at #AGU23: Topic: Enhancing Radiative Transfer Models for Conifer Stands with High-Precision Blue Light 3D Photogrammetry Scanning (agu.confex.com/agu/fm23/preli…) Date: Dec 14 (Thu) 2023, 10:40-10:50 (PST) Location: Room: 3006-West (Level 3 West, Moscone Center)

The exciting level of detail about the surface of individual needles and the actual 3D shoot architecture we can get now: sneak-peek preview of the raw scan of a Norway spruce shoot from the @icossweden station Svartberget. Field campaign supported by @eLTER_Europe
