I seem to never fail to ruin my weekend by taking on a huge project due on Monday morning. This weekend's burden is a Slovak>English medical report. Oh well, only 11,000 words to go! #translator #woe

The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.

My current project is a batch of 5 medical journal articles that need translating from Czech to English, which works out nicely at 1 article a day for a working week. My only question is how on EARTH is it only Wednesday? #xl8 #med #translation #czech 🇨🇿

Working on my first assignment as a freelance translator! 😃

Any Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian medical folks out there? This is a long-shot but does anyone know what the abbreviation "CEK" (context is urology: uredne debljine parenhima , lijevo uredan CEK, dok se desno vidi sasvim diskretno) stands for? I'm at my wits' end! 🇧🇦🇭🇷🇷🇸👨‍🔬 #medicine

Must say, @mikeduncan did an incredible job cramming 800+ years of Russian history from pre-Rurik to the first Romanov Tsar into a 30-minute podcast episode podchaser.com/podcasts/revol…

You spend a while mastering the animate accusative case in Russian, you think it's a transferable skill for other Slavic languages, when suddenly Serbian throws you a jab to the kidneys with the masc. acc. pl. ending that completely ignores animacy 😅 #language #russian #serbian

Nice to know my spell check sees absolutely nothing wrong with echocardiorgaphy, abnormalit, atuopsy, and aneurism 👍 #youhadONEjob

"she [the patient] is able to levitate independently against gravity bilaterally [...]" This is either a mistranslation or this patient is beyond medical help #translation #witchcraft

I have honestly seen medical reports featuring handwriting less legible than that of Peter the Great ✍

This post is unavailable.

Any Russian medical linguists here know how a more faithful EN translation of 'осумкованный плеврит' than 'encapsulated pleurisy' (and other multitran suggestions)... what on earth do EN speaking docs call it?! Share pls 👨‍🔬🇷🇺 #russian #medical #xl8 #doctor

Be sure to remember this one before your holiday to Prague this Christmas or you'll be rumbled at the airport! #xl8 #czech

What's seen cannot be unseen 🤣

I am too old to be a millennial, but translating material about atrial fibrillation, involving “Slow AF”, “Persistent AF”, “Paroxysmal AF” etc. never fails to make me giggle...

An interesting, short, nice article about why this sentence sounds so weird #hiddengrammar

I'm going to be thinking about this for days! The Ning Nang Nong never made so much sense linkedin.com/pulse/grammar-…

"Friendly" English phrases can go horribly wrong in translation. Oops! ow.ly/U31530gBj9z

Always been a fan of the ß ligature; a unique character with an interesting history. Shame it's dying out #deutsch typography.guru/journal/german…

That is a great translation solution for a word that can be really tricky to translate; I'll put that one in my glossary!
