A teacher emailed me. Asked me to come to her class this month. I didn’t respond. Cause I’m busy. Gots a lot going on. And I get a lot of emails…I woke up this morning & bought an airline ticket. Going to show up to her class. Masked. She doesn’t know. SURPRISE! #KwameShowedUp

A book canNOT be considered multicultural if it is written by a white author. Students need see themselves in the story, and as the creator of the story.

I feel that “being anti-racist” has the same problems that “being an ally” does. People have taken it to be an identity when it should be an action. A verb.

Not only is Standardize Testing during a global pandemic stressful to children, it’s disrespectful to the millions of educators who have worked tirelessly the past 348 Days. 1000s of great teachers will walk out of the classroom in June and never return....

We have students whose parents/guardians were laid off. We have students whose parents/guardians got sick and/or died. We have students who are helping out their families. We have students who are in survival mode. But yes, let’s test them.

The disrespect won’t stop on its own.

That voice only grows stronger in numbers. Educators know courage and power comes with being part of a collective voice. We're here to help build and grow that voice for early career educators. Learn more here: ohea.org/one #YouBelong
