I never knew that there was fighting on actual US soil in ww2
This day in 1943, US forces of the 7th Infantry Division land on Attu, Alaska. The more than two-week battle ended when most of the Japanese defenders were killed (2,350), only 28 prisoners were taken. It was the only land battle of the war fought in North America. #WW2
