The EnCyCriS workshop deadline has been extended to November 20th! EnCyCriS welcome papers related to developer centred security and the development of critical systems. The workshop itself is a very enjoyable day. If you have a WiP looking for a home: encycris-2025.hotcrp.com

The EnCyCriS workshop, colocated with ICSE, is an essential forum for publishing and discussing practical engineering and cybersecurity research on critical systems. They welcome papers related to developer centred security. The CFP is out, due 11/11.

@itaryan⁩ presenting on secure coding training ⁦@svmconf⁩ the result is that it’s not looking good. Many CS programmes don’t actually deliver security training and most respondents of a survey (n=1100) report not have had training.

My puppy ate a copy of The Hunger Games.

Do I have any contacts in banking or social work who might be available for an interview? See here a list of persons of interest...asking for a friend who's doing brilliant research into social sustainability in the development of cashless societies.

It will just take 10 minutes of your time but highly valued at our end . If you consider yourself a software engineer, then please use this link: lnkd.in/e3Up3cYk If you are not a software engineer, then kindly fill in this public survey link: lnkd.in/eUcshst3

I'm very excited about my upcoming trip to Denmark to present my ACM CCS 2023 paper 'Unhelpful Assumptions in Software Security Research'. Love to hear from anyone who'll be at CCS 2023. November 26 in Copenhagen. #ACMCCS

Excited to join the program committee for EnCyCriS/SVM 2024, ICSE co-located. Papers due November 9th! We have a particular focus on cyber threats on critical systems, secure software engineering, and attack detection and response mechanisms. Details here: ife.no/en/event/encyc…

If you are still in #Melbourne, join me at #ICSE #EnCyCriS this afternoon! Studying secure coding in the laboratory: Why, What, Where, How and Who - 4:05 @ 108. The State of Secure Coding Practice: Small Organisations and 'Lone, Rogue Coders' - 4:45 @ 108. See you soon!

Everyone seems to be really excited to talk about regulating the danger from AI. Want an effective way to make AI a whole lot less dangerous? Stop governments from passing laws that will require AI to listen to all private conversations.

I'm looking forward to talking about the ICSE paper I wrote with @kjstol and Utz Roedig shortly: Measuring Secure Coding Practice and Culture: A Finger Pointing at the Moon is not the Moon. See you in 106 @ 2:15! #ICSE2023

Mastodon translator: Server = tribe Federated = connected Don't be intimidated by Mastodon. 'Choose your server' just means 'who's your tribe?' The Twitter algorithm is replaced with a timeline of tweets from your server (tribe). But you can still connect to everyone else.

Genuinely thought this was about 'Windbag GPT': even more pompous, dull and ill-informed than the original.

Still a very early prototype, but here is Windbgpt, a #chatgpt-powered AI assistant directly in #Windbg! It analyzes the output of the commands, and provides guidance to solve the stated problem. Here is an example of it investigating a deadlock in a .NET application.

ChatGPT is not being at all helpful with my coding issue. It reminds me of a co-worker who talked a lot but could never understand the core problem. Now it has just given up.
