In editing classes, I always heard (sometimes before anything else) that an editor needs to be considerate. Shape your comments to relate to the reader's experience. Be positive. SO my mind is always BOGGLED when I hear about some experiences with editors. BE KIND

My developmental editing style is a lot like talk therapy in that I don't diagnose the problem and tell you what to do, but rather ask the questions that make you sit back and reevaluate everything you thought you knew.
My test for vacation preparedness is whether or not I have my three to five books picked out yet. Will I read all of them in one week? Absolutely not. Will I pack all of them anyway? Absolutely, yes.
