Jug handles may have helped pay for my three children’s college tuitions….

Pinging all dirt lawyers, @IJpod, @eminentdomainNJ, & related infrastructure nerds: I think "jug handle" intersections are, like, the most Jersey form of road engineering. Haven't seen 'em anywhere else. Are there other approaches to infrastructure that are location-specific?

Tuesday's #SCOTUS grants? Wisconsin parents bring constitutional challenge to a school support plan for transgender students; and are property owners owed compensation when police destroy their property rescuing a hostage? You know where to find it.

No newly relisted cases coming out of the most recent #SCOTUS conference. All of last week's relists are back again this week, minus the Takings Clause cases, which were denied. Justice Gorsuch voted to grant in both; he evidently had the cases relisted 4 times hunting for votes

There are some great studies out there about the deep persistence of private-property norms in children raised in communitarian societies. Richard Pipes in Property and Freedom talks about some of them.

There are people who think like this and then there are people who spend time with children.

In @WMLawSchool's Eminent Domain & Property Rights course, we're deep into the subject of Just Compensation. Today's class dug into valuation of donut shops. Did you know there are no less than 12 factors that go into it?

The double duplex is the dingbat of our time: the unexpected result of an accretion of zoning and building code rules, widely loathed by contemporaries, yet an indispensable source of naturally affordable housing.

This Double Duplex just sold for $279 per foot. You would think the developer lost his shirt on it with where construction costs are the past few years. But there are builders out there that supposedly can build this for under $150 per foot today. I have no idea how, but they…

For example, the Forest Service could entitle/permit/sell workforce housing free of local NIMBY opposition in Aspen, Vail, Tahoe, etc, and end the housing crisis in those places. The optics are perfect for this administration: they're all little enclaves of wealthy Democrats.
