Fanny packs are great, but remember girdle books?👛 The knot can be tucked into a belt (or girdle) for ease of transport and quick reference. This girdle book, bound in soft green leather, belonged to Mildred Bliss. @iglibraries 📗 ow.ly/ycR050KuuJt

August’s @iglibraries hashtag challenge is #DesignLibraries! Enjoy some gorgeous City of Chicago documents! The late 1960s Dept of Urban Renewal reports detail (at times problematically) various neighborhoods. Hosting w/ @NUL_Transport & @NUArchives! instagram.com/p/CgzHjcSOGNI/

Thank you for the conversation and the honest reflections that I hope improve ALA but more importantly advance our librarians and library workers toward a better future #critlib

When I was on ALA Council I was frustrated with how risk averse ALA was, re: the limits of its nonprofit status. Our job sometimes is to push on limits and fight frivolous/malicious threats! #critlib

I often refer to this framework regarding ALA's not for profit status which limits what ALA is able to do so as a profession, we can think about the APA role and other oganizations to complement ALA bit.ly/34raJyT #critlib

"It's unpopular to defend any aspects of ALA on Twitter". And yet.

A5. I dunno! I think this audience, at least, has stopped believing that this is even a possibility. Which is really unfortunate. It's unpopular to defend any aspects of ALA on twitter, so I don't know if this is the right venue for this discussion? #critlib

With Q3, more Anonymous responses surfaced, and with Q4, participants largely wondered if such an org could exist

Q4: What would a racial and social justice-centered ALA look like? #critlib
