@iamtomrozLiving in a sci-fi world, and it's equal parts exciting and bizarre. AI, politics, pop culture, yada yada... I've got thoughts (some of them insightful!)

Haven't been on here in AGES!!! Just X’d out all my old tweets. Starting fresh. Here’s to whatever’s next! 🥂
I am starting a new company:
Superintelligence is within reach. Building safe superintelligence (SSI) is the most important technical problem of our time. We've started the world’s first straight-shot SSI lab, with one goal and one product: a safe superintelligence. It’s called Safe Superintelligence…
Andrew Ng says regulating and restricting the use of AI may shut American models out of the supply chain and undermine the spread of American values
First actual confirmation of GPT-5 capabilities. Finally.
ChatGPT is down, with some users reporting momentarily seeing GPT4.5 What does OpenAI have in store for us?
At Microsoft’s Copilot event today. Two cool things they’ve shown off so far: 1. Copilot+PC - AI first PCs that you can chat with and they can see what’s happening on your computer. The example they showed was someone playing Minecraft while chatting with Copilot. Copilot…
Sam Altman now says "i did not know this was happening and i should have." about employees being threatened with loss of their vested equity if they don't sign a restrictive separation agreement. @sama, will you void the restrictive separation agreement that ex-exployees signed?
in regards to recent stuff about how openai handles equity: we have never clawed back anyone's vested equity, nor will we do that if people do not sign a separation agreement (or don't agree to a non-disparagement agreement). vested equity is vested equity, full stop. there was…
Btw this should be straight up illegal. The idea that a company could regulate somebody's freedom of speech (even AFTER leaving the company) is no bueno.
Sam Altman is seriously one of the best operators to ever do it. He makes the employees at OpenAI sign a non disclosure AND non disparage and forbids them to even say it exists lest they lose all their equity. Sam has them by the balls. Control the equity, control the behavior.

Want to know why OpenAI's safety team imploded? Here's why. Thank you to the company insiders who bravely spoke to me. According to my sources, the answer to "What did Ilya see?" is actually very simple... vox.com/future-perfect…
When you leave OpenAI, you get an unpleasant surprise: a departure deal where if you don't sign a lifelong nondisparagement commitment, you lose all of your vested equity: vox.com/future-perfect…
I joined because I thought OpenAI would be the best place in the world to do this research. However, I have been disagreeing with OpenAI leadership about the company's core priorities for quite some time, until we finally reached a breaking point.
We’re partnering with Reddit to bring its content to ChatGPT and new products: openai.com/index/openai-a…
nothing like running old iphone notes about your ex through @suno_ai_ and turning them into summertime pop hits
A GPT-4o generated image — so much to explore with GPT-4o's image generation capabilities alone. Team is working hard to bring those to the world.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit if GPT4-o is already a year old. Under no circumstances is it "new", especially considering that GPT-5 is long finished (please remember the Business Insider article that numerous CEOs have already been introduced to GPT-5).
Another AI company will probably reach GPT-5 levels within 3 to 9 months regardless. I get the impression that OpenAI is WAY ahead, but releasing only enough to stay on top. Therefore, the pace of AI progress is set by whoever's in second place.
True. I assume GPT 4.5 pretty soon. I am of the opinion that GPT-o is a small improvement over GPT-4. But OpenAI themselves said in their announcement that there is news about GPT4, which logically excludes GPT 4.5. We will see an even better model very soon. Probably shortly…
Ilya is so back!
After almost a decade, I have made the decision to leave OpenAI. The company’s trajectory has been nothing short of miraculous, and I’m confident that OpenAI will build AGI that is both safe and beneficial under the leadership of @sama, @gdb, @miramurati and now, under the…
