When companies that train deep learning models talk about AGI, it's as if a 3D printing company talked about how the next generation of the technology was going to bring universal abundance by enabling arbitrary matter replication -- if we can avoid the grey goo scenario
I'm guessing that with circles it has already been attacked enough with brute force computation to make that unlikely, but maybe for some of the less studied shape combinations.
Q: How can we solve physical equations on massively complex geometry? A: Monte Carlo methods! Check out this talk for a deep-dive into the "walk on spheres" algorithm & recent developments, which I gave last week at the Oberwolfach Mathematics Institute: youtube.com/watch?v=bZbuKO…
Good morning! Today I am at #SGP2022 @GeometryProcess talking about using Blender to make pretty pictures for your next academic paper :-) You can watch a sneak peek of my talk here: youtu.be/cw88Y36qgDg

🚨Upcoming online workshop: #Robotic #Fabrication with the COMPAS framework Dec 13–15, 2021, 10 AM–5 PM CET hosted by @McNeelEurope Info & sign-up: blog.rhino3d.com/2021/11/roboti… @NCCRDFAB @ETH_en #design #computationaldesign #digitalfabrication
#HiLo research & innovation unit is open! COMPAS was used to design the doubly curved 2-layered concrete sandwich shell and develop its cable-net and fabric formwork system Guess which one is the render? #parametricdesign #architecture #BRG Ph: Roman Keller
I don't like the expression "working hard". First, it's not "working" in itself that matters, it's achieving outcomes. And second, work should not be hard. You should find work patterns that enable high-volume productivity without incurring a high psychological or physical cost.
DDG started in spring while I passed the first assignment in autumn... I must be expelled in reality. But as an architecture student, I really enjoy learning this course. Thank you for setting up these exercises to digest all the concepts.@keenanisalive @GeomCollective
Can't wait to see more videos about geometry!!
Isospectralization is a novel numerical procedure allowing to deform a shape one shape such that its spectrum matches that of another - thus hearing the shape of the drum. Isospectralizing two shapes is a simple preprocessing that dramatically improves intrinsic correspondence.
• Do what interests you the most. • Spend time with nature. • Ask questions. • Never stop learning. • Don't pay attention to what others think of you. • Read everyday. • Study hard. • Teach others what you know. • Make mistakes and learn. • It's Okay to not know things!
Incredible
Simple way to construct *strictly enclosing* simplified mesh cages:
Awesome! Architectural geometry rocks!
And allowed us even to fabricate an example from paper!
Art meets technology.
amazing...

🙌🏻i care about architectural geometry. Thx for your dedication
We are sharing stories about SIGGRAPH rejections? huh OK. My first submission was accepted back in 2010, but my next accepted SIGGRAPH paper was only 2015. I distinctly remember a 2013 rejection where the summary was something like "nobody cares about architectural geometry".
