Spent my weekend feeding chickens, eating home-cooked southern meals fresh from the garden, engaging in qigong & sound baths, being adorned, and being a big baby up under my elder-mamas on their lands in Tuskegee. Always grateful for my council of elder wisdom keepers ♻️💕🫶🏾
In our grant proposal we emphasized the role that African & Diasporic Traditional Religions play in black communal healing & wellness. We proposed the Hoodoo Heritage Month fest to “celebrate African-American cultural history & spiritual tradition & it’s place in our liberation!”
A portion of our grant funding is going toward hosting a Hoodoo Heritage Month festival in Chicago! October 21st! At Bynum Island in Washington Park! Save the date!

Through this annual celebration we will continue to elevate the spirits who have walked with us along our journey to freedom. We will continue to retell and add upon the great stories of our people.
We do this for the purpose of remembrance, reclamation and continuation!
During this month-long celebration, we take extra care to venerate our honorable ancestors out loud. We take extra time to gather with our kin of both blood & spirit. We get extra loud with our joyful expressions of deep pride in our heritage.
