⏳ If half the class requires tier 2 support, the school doesn't need more tier 2 #intervention strategies or programs. There's a need for more universal design. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL

How often have we asked kids to: Think Pair Share Collaborate Discuss Or anything requiring communication... Without explicitly teaching them HOW to do this things in the first place? We need to model, provide visible cues & expectations, & reteach at times. We can't assume.

I think @TimHortons means well, but the orange sprinkle donut campaign REALLY feels off- ike a celebratory/carnivalesque approach to NDTR. Instead. simply donate a portion of all coffee sales September 30th to Indigenous charities. 🧡🪶

This is how you prepare students for the future. We need to stop dreaming and start doing.

🤔 When a student seems disinterested, do we just label it as "misbehavior?" Behaviors are choices, aren't they? But what if we change our perspective, asking what this tells us about our teaching methods and consider new strategies? #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #TeacherTwitter

Hey Adults in schools, Work at connections with kids & conjuring smiles as much as you communicate content & give out grades. It will make EVERYTHING you do at school more effective & make work feel like a lot less work.

An #OrangeShirtDay tip for schools. Many families struggle with finding orange shirts for the day, even though they want to support. Here is a sticker template that uses Avery 5214. Schools can print stickers for students to show their support.🧡🪶 drive.google.com/file/d/1nEIJil…

💡 A truly inclusive culture is only possible when all teachers in the school see themselves as inclusive educators and believe that all students are their students. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Teachers #UDL #TeacherTwitter

🕺 There should be no "special education classrooms" in our buildings. Spaces for support, when needed, should be for evidence-based intervention for any student who needs it. Homework help ≠ intervention. #LeadInclusion #EdLeaders #Educators #UDL #TeacherTwitter

As long as boards continue to push the harm of ABA upon neurodivergent children, our kiddos will never have a safe place to learn

The moment we talk about changing 'behaviour' without considering the context of that behaviour, we are doomed to failure. We will put in place ever harsher consequences, and they will work less and less well. That's because behaviour never exists in a vacuum. It's part of a…

"Go back to the @educationgovuk & rip up the behaviourist approach to education. It creates a world where neurodiverse children, those with anxiety, mental health and even the timid cannot survive." Absolutely agree @RachaelMaskell 👏 @teamsquarepeg @NotFineinSchool

I quit teaching all kids. I started teaching each kid. I’ve never been a better teacher. That is not a boast. That is a bare-bones admission to what such an approach requires of me. I can no longer hide behind good for all. I have to meet each where they fall. #P180

If I don't smile, why would kids smile? If I don't show respect, why would kids show respect? If I don't appear to care, why would kids care? If I don't seem motivated, why would kids be motivated? If I don't learn, why would kids learn? We, adults, must be the models.

Please do not use Teachers Pay Teachers for ANYTHING to do with #OrangeShirtDay. Not only is TPT NOT audited for equity and cultural appropriation, creators are literally making money off of Indigenous trauma. I will continue to share free vetted resources this month! 🧡🪶

Do you know which disabilty represents the highest number of EHCPs? I will tell you its Autism. What does that tell you about the state of inclusiveness of autistic children in Education. That they need an EHCP just to be included. No one anticipates them

Cheating is not a devious act of character. Cheating is a consequence of a toxic game. The Game of Grading. The game we've been teaching them to play since they stepped into our hallowed halls. If we truly cared about their honor, then we'd truly care about their learning.
