Happy to share our work published today in @Nature, where we show that a subset of disease-associated variants in intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) result in aberrant phase separation and nucleolar dysfunction. nature.com/articles/s4158…

It was a pleasure working with @dhnisz and @HymanLab on this article for @NatureRevGenet where we review results from experimental and disease genetics that together provide insights into cellular functions and molecular specificity of condensates: nature.com/articles/s4157…

Can transcription factors be optimized? Exciting work from @Naderij_ and @alexpmagalhaes revealed a trade-off between specificity and activity. Great to see this study finally out! Congrats to all authors!

Human TFs face a molecular trade-off between activity and specificity encoded as submaximal dispersion of aromatic residues in their disordered regions. A collaborative effort of @dhnisz, @VingronLab and Graf Lab published today in @NatureCellBio nature.com/articles/s4155…

Birte from #germanscholars paid me a visit at #MPI_MolGen couple of weeks ago. We had a nice chat and it was great to learn how GSO supports us Boost Fellows! To current and soon-to-be postdocs: I highly recommend to apply for KT Boost Fund in the next rounds!

Our Journey Continues with our KT Boost Fellow @henri_niskanen, who explores a "killswitch" peptide @MPI_MolGen that could manipulate cellular condensates, leading to new treatments.

A fascinating work is published today @Nature by Zhang & Zhang et al. on a serendipitous discovery of haemoglobin expression outside the RBC cells--in chondrocytes--and their critical role in keeping our cartilage alive under an oxygen-deprived environment.…
