Professor of Nephrology and HOD internal medicine for my center Japa with him wife to start residency afresh for US..but make we work hard. Do residency for 6,7 years to be pursuing 800k work around the country..

The young Drs have looked at their "Chiefs" who had no "work-life balance" & seen that it wasn't worth it. Those older Drs kept pouring into a system that kept demanding more & more while offering less & less. They are now also trying to escape that system too.

The day I didn’t show up to work after telling them I won’t show up because I won’t work on 2 holiday days straight, the HOD and SRs with a reg ran Cher by themselves. You’re replaceable like mad.

If you slump and die, the hospital will mourn for a few minutes, and then the rota coordinator will start looking for your replacement. Dem fit put your shift out at escalated rates sef. You’re nothing but a cog in the wheel. Take care of yourself bro. Farabale.

The way life became easier for me to navigate when I stopped thinking of achievements in relation to age >>>>>

Lastly, age-at-achievement should not be a measure of success in my opinion. You can finish at 20 and go bankrupt at 30. You can finish at 45 and become world-renowned at 50. You can finish at 26 and get a life-altering diagnosis at 27. Achievements are simply achievements!

An Alfa was invited to help officiate the naming ceremony for a family friend in London. He told us straight that the programme is 2 hours, some people thought it was a joke. By the time they got there, the naming ceremony was done, and Alfa was on his way to night shift.😊

SR at 27 and so fucking what? Is that affecting the price of fuel today? Nonsense talk.

If person say dem no like name wey you dey call them, stop am. If person say dem nor dey comfortable with the joke, stop am. Just stop am, nor be fight, you no be pikin.

I started residency at 44. I'm lazy abi? But I was a regional head of the Zenith Bank HMO, (overseeing almost N1 Billion naira in inflow) at 35. Does that matter? Nope. Cos everyone has their pace/path. Residents, reject unnecessary pressure. Life na jeje.

Best general surgery SR I ever worked with, best all of us at Fmc owo ever had, brilliant, kind, worked like an absolute madman, Dr Olubayo died of an undiscovered ACS cus someone locked the ECG room the previous day and they couldn't find the key. Please take that day off abeg.

Many Nigerians are angry, very angry but at each other, not the government. That is a big problem.

Your biggest mistake is thinking you can do it all by yourself.

Residency training in most parts of Naija is modern day slavery if people continue to think like this. Someone can become a consultant at 27 and still end up writing PLAB with 24yr olds at 40. This life no balance

Meanwhile medical professionals in other countries are literally planning holidays and traveling around the world every other weekend with added leave days, whilst progressing in their careers and are most likely out earning you 👏🏼👏🏼

In the physician’s oath I swore, I swore to “attend to my own health, well-being, and abilities in order to provide care of the highest standard”. For me, that includes taking breaks and days off. You people can do whatever you like.

You have to be a real life loser to pay for “private snap”. Your life don spoil be that.

Kay Kay Reposted

33% inflation and the main topics here are always hypergamy, cheating, etc

Kay Kay Reposted

SR before 27 is not a big deal. If not that you guys ruined the country and training, you’d have many consultants younger than 30.

Kay Kay Reposted

Nobody should become a president in Nigeria without doing a public debate with other aspirants Most of the underperforming presidents all ran away from debating because they simple had nothing to offer.

My biggest fear is actually not being fulfilled. Not enjoying my life. Stuck in monotonous mode because of capitalism. Not living, just surviving and struggling.
