Resigned as black to move in this position because I could see no way to stop mate on h7/h8... 🤦♀️
Today is THE day. The first annual @chesscom #ChessPunks Champs is happening! 32 adult chess improvers will battle it out in 4 different rating categories (U1300 / U1700 / U2000 / 2000+) Watch it live on twitch.tv/chess Yours truly and the inimitable…
For those who don't know, I qualified for the #chesspunks u2000 champs, taking place on 22 Oct 🏆 I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be trained by GM King (I feel I already learnt a lot in just 1h), and I'm excited to learn and compete against other adult improvers!
White to play - mate in 2. From today's #chesspunks training session between GM @DanielKingChess and WCM Rebecca Selkirk.
Sad news to start the day - I struggle a lot with studying chess books, and Silman's writing is the most accessible I've come across. He had a real gift for writing in an educational and entertaining way, and he will be missed 💔
US Chess has learned that IM Jeremy Silman died earlier this evening after a long illness. A very strong player, Silman was best known as one of the most popular chess authors of all time. He was truly America's chess teacher. Our condolences to his wife, family, and friends.
I know you've had bad chess games, but have you ever had hanging M1 classified as an 'inaccuracy' because it was best to give your queen away for M4? 😂 My opp found Qh8# after 6s, coincidentally their average move time across the entire rapid game - not at all suspicious :)
So much respect to both players for playing such fighting chess the past month, and congratulations to Ding for emerging victorious 🏆 What a rollercoaster of a match, but such fun to watch 😄 I do look forward to no more work-day distractions, though!
I probably shouldn't have made plans for tomorrow at 11am CEST... do I feign illness and bail so I can watch the tiebreaks? 🤫 #NepoDing
This is why beginner players should not look at super-GM games to pick up opening tips! #NepoDing
Ding and Nepo are not making it easy to get work done today - that eval bar is dancing, it's hard to look away! 🫣 #NepoDing
The London System currently has a 100% win rate in world championship matches 👀

Chess fans didn't have to wait long for a decisive result in the #NepoDing FIDE World Championship, as GM @lachesisq convincingly took down GM Ding Liren in game two. Report with Game of the Day by GM @Rafpig: chess.com/news/view/fide…
“Why is there a need for Girl’s or Women’s tournaments?” First, even though we are in the 21st century, there is still a social stigma, according to which, girls are not supposed to want to become firefighters, mathematicians, engineers, or (yes!) chess players, etc. Many…
Had a lot of fun (and heartbreak) taking part in today's @NitroRacingGG launch - it was total chaos, here's my favourite race of the evening 😄 #LaunchPartner #ad
OTB blitz tournament today, blundered my queen in a +7 position against a CM 🥲
This is a truly sickening read, but it gives insight into how women are often treated in the chess world -Ramirez is one of many. The chess higher-ups need to do better and not just turn a blind eye to accusations or tell victims to talk things out with their abusers.
NEW: @WSJ spoke with eight women who said they were sexually assaulted or harassed by prominent chess grandmaster, coach and commentator Alejandro Ramirez. Three were under 18 at the time of the alleged incidents. With @JoshRobinson23: wsj.com/articles/aleja…
Wins like these are why I play too much blitz 😬
It took an extra 2 weeks (nearly 2 months in total 😅) to get internet at the new apartment, but I'm back online and am excited to get back to streaming 🥳 Did I miss anything crazy in the chess world while I was gone?
