Refactored configuration in a project by making use of the ZIO's built-in Config capabilities and ended up ditching configuration files entirely 😄 Env variables, default values, types, everything is in one place.

Tell me you practice cv-driven development without telling me you practice cv-driven development. Homogenous stack comes with a shitload of benefits and the difference between modern languages is not enough to justify diversifying. The only good reason for this is to grow a…

cold take: dogmatically keeping your services mono-language not only prevents you from taking advantage of the strengths of other ecosystems, it also tells growth oriented ICEs they have to change jobs to work with a variety of tech

Hard work is cool but do you know what really makes startup successful? A bunch of people willing to pick up whatever task has to get done that’s potentially way outside their comfort zone.

A lot of ignorance in this & many of the replies.

i've never heard of a 55 year old software engineer. you either triumph and become a vp or get put out to pasture at an insurance company in the midwest somewhere

If you use Haskell, you are indebted to SASL (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SASL_(pro…), KRC (cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/d…), and Miranda (cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/d…). Sadly, their creator, David Turner en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Tur… has left us this week. Thanks David, you had a huge side-effect on my life.

Our talk on @restatedev from Current is online: events.bizzabo.com/468544/agenda/… (requires registration, but is free). We build a food ordering app, with Kafka and Restate, discussing workflows, event-driven services, stream processing, serverless deployment, etc. Hope you enjoy it!

The Slack redesign breaks the most useful feature. In the old design, I can see at a glance which Slack teams have unread messages for me. In the new design, I can see that there are unread messages but I have to click to examine which teams those messages are on. Do Not Want.👎

A senior developer just told me: “TypeScript exposes your incompetence as a JavaScript developer” I cannot get this out my head.

Use typescript. It’s better.

This looks like ZIO in Typescript. A lot...

So, we've done something over the last few months. It is my pleasure to announce Effectful Technologies Inc (effectful.co) a company fully dedicated to @EffectTS_ and it's ecosystem. Deeply honored to have such an amazing team! Stay tuned for more updates.
