📢 Dive into our study on gene expression in a Panicum hallii natural population. Our findings highlight cis-regulatory divergence as a primary driver of expression variation in this population.academic.oup.com/mbe/article/do…
Does gene expression occur in bursts? The answer is often yes but in science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… we show that for a set of important genes this is not the case. The noise is actually well below that expected from a Poisson distribution!
Excited to announce a new paper in PNAS today! An illusion of predictability in scientific results: Even experts confuse inferential uncertainty and outcome variability pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn… Joint w/ great coauthors @_szhang, @P_Heck, @MichelleNMeyer, @cfchabris & @dggoldst

What happens when you bring together the computational folks with the transcription crowd and the evo-devo aficionados? We did it, and it gave deep learning a new life, check it out. Thank you @ArnostiDavid and @AnaMariaRaicu2 for making this a fun writeup.
This summer we hosted the @ASBMB #Evolution and Core Processes in Gene Regulation Symposium which focused on bringing the power of #deeplearning to decipher #DNA sequence information. Read more in @jbiolchem @NicolasRohner @JuliaZeitlinger sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
