One of my best friends in elementary school was a boy named Brian. He vanished from class during our 6th grade year: sick. No, we could not visit, the teacher said. We were encouraged to draw and write cards instead. 1/x

Why don't we discuss the fact that Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos & Larry Ellison own more wealth than the bottom HALF of Americans? Part of the answer is that the people who own the media are doing phenomenally well. They aren't interested in highlighting massive levels of inequality.

I knew there were a lot of fake accounts on this platform, but they are usually obvious. I had no idea how intricate and complex the ruse could be. Get a load of this story. 1/

The woman who is in line to become the head of the U.S. intelligence community thinks Ukraine is a corrupt autocracy no different from Russia and not worth defending. Horrendous.

Tulsi Gabbard: Zelensky now has absolute control of Ukrainian media, outlawed opposition political parties and Ukraine’s Orthodox Church, declared martial law, and uses absolute power under martial law to cancel presidential elections.

So - just to underline - the proposed director of national intelligence for the US, Tulsi Gabbard, is so pro-Putin that she has been described as a Russian agent on Russian TV.

Elon Musk and Marco Rubio have two radically different visions for US-Taiwan and US-China relations. We have no idea which man will sway Donald Trump. I wrote for @NikkeiAsia why this uncertainty is concerning for Taiwan's future. asia.nikkei.com/Opinion/Will-T…

I had dismal expectations for Trump’s appointments, but some in the national security space were decent. Now we get Matt Gaetz for attorney general and Tulsi Gabbard for DNI — and they are nightmares. Not nightmares for liberals but for the rule of law and America’s reputation.

SCOOP - Taiwan considers big US weapons purchase as overture to Donald Trump. Likely to include Aegis ships, Hawkeye airborne radar, old US Navy ships and Patriot missiles. Some want to include F-35s. on.ft.com/3UH0xt2

Beijing may try to leverage Trump's deal-making tendencies, esp. on sensitive issues like Taiwan. Leaders in Taipei stress economic integration w/ the US, while bracing for Trump's demands of more defense spending for US "protection" (despite $20B US arms backlog). @jimsciutto

The Democrats lost this election because they ignored the justified anger of working class America and became the defenders of a rigged economy and political system. @GlobeOpinion bostonglobe.com/2024/11/10/opi…

So much detail in this major piece by @Dimi Politically, it’s smart for Taiwan to purchase flagship platforms from the US. They did this in Trump’s first term. Operationally, it’s not what they urgently need. But this may be a case where politics comes first.

The working class of this country is angry. They have a reason to be angry. The very wealthy are doing phenomenally well, while 60% of us are living paycheck to paycheck. It’s time to get big money out of politics and create an economy that works for the people.
