ℹ️api.otea.info/storage/2024/0…

It was a privilege to visit our partner researchers @BC3Research to collaborate on developing circularity indicators for agriculture. More circular farming systems could reduce GHG emissions while increasing farm business profitability. @CircAgricGHG @TaithWales @BangorUni

Interesting blog post about drone flying at @Mazingira_ILRI 👏The tests are part of a bigger effort under CircAgric-GHG to collect data about ruminant methane emission measurements across different climates and environments: Germany, Kenya and Norway.👉bit.ly/3yH5CcB

🚀 Proud moment for @ILRI's Mazingira Centre! Our team, in collaboration with @CircAgricGHG, conducted the first drone-based measurement of ruminant methane emissions in Africa. Enhancing GHG tracking for effective climate action! 🌍🌿 #GHGEmissions #ClimateAction

Pasture 🐑🌿can reduce carbon footprint 🌍👣 from sheep production by almost one third. Transhumant sheep systems, both by foot 🚶‍♂️ and lorry 🚛, achieve relatively low carbon footprint, compared to sedentary farms. 👉 bit.ly/circagric @PabloPastos @gpardoBC3 @AgusBC3

Researchers have assessed the carbon footprints 🌍👣of dairy farms🐄 in 5 European countries. Farm management practices explained up to 79% of the variation in carbon footprints, which implies potential for lowering emissions. 👉 bit.ly/4dJDLIX

I find the narrative "we need BOTH emission reductions AND carbon dioxide removal" increasingly problematic. We need emission reductions. Full stop. Period. End of story. Here is another attempt to show why emission reductions must come first & be prioritised. 1/

Wild herbivores generate greenhouse gas emissions, too, not just domesticated ruminant livestock. This is a great example of how similar emissions between the two can be. Take away: We must include (baseline) emissions from wild herbivores when quantifying livestock emissions.

📢 It's out! The paper by @AgusBC3 @gpardoBC3 and me (@BC3Research & @GCCGtweet) at #npjClimAtmosSci @Nature_NPJ on emissions in two savannas in northern Tanzania, one dominated by wild herbivores and the other dominated by ruminant livestock. 🧵 (1/9) nature.com/articles/s4161…

A revolutionary correction [one I have always argued for] to the previous EAT-Lancet diet: Increased intake of animal source foods is essential to fill the micronutrient gap. This rules out imposing vegan diets for all, leaving individual choices intact - foodnavigator.com/Article/2023/0…

I don’t know what is scarier, the fact that atmospheric CO2 just hit the highest level in human history, or that it has gone close to completely unnoticed…

Some of our recent research at @BC3Research & @GCCGtweet is shedding light on the role of livestock and herbivores in global change, and I think it is worth organizing it in a thread of threads for whoever visits my profile. I will be adding new papers in the future. (1/n)

Sigue. ➡️
