Hey @acsnano - why did you not retract this paper? This is not a simple 'oopsie, we found two overlapping images' - the green signal appears to have been altered. #ImageForensics pubpeer.com/publications/8… pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/nn…

Twitter is can only exist as a public good. If it stops being public, the cocaine effect stops.

Jack Dorsey invented a website that was basically super cocaine for the 1%, never made any money from this, and then sold it to a customer who wanted to ensure his fix was never interrupted

New story from @Jasonmmast and I examines a Duchenne gene therapy conundrum: $SRPT $PFE treatments both produce a lot of microdystrophin, yet neither show better muscle function. This raises ?s about microdystrophin as biomarker for accelerated approval in DMD, complicates…

A 90-95% failure rate in clinical trials has a way of wearing you down tho. Statistically most scientists working on the discovery side will go their entire careers and never work on a project that leads to a marketed drug. There’s no equivalent of this in tech that I know of

Why is biotech such a sad industry? They make medicine, it output feels 10x more important than automation and info-plumbing (aka the tech industry) and requires deeper knowledge/training -- and yet, low salaries, perpetual layoffs, very few founder CEOs, bad vibes all around.

What happens if your CPU gets something wrong? If it wakes up one day and decides 2+2=5? Well, most of us will never have to worry about that. But if you work at a company the size of Google, you do, which is why this paper on "mercurial cores" is so fascinating. What the…

In summary, this study shows that for some reason, vaccination against Spike with mRNA vaccine (even combined with infection) fails to establish long lived plasma cells that provide IgG against the virus long term. (6/)

We should stop using the word "epigenetics". There are more precise words for the different phenomena observed that don't lead to potentially wrong mechanistic assumptions.

This vainglorious tweet from He Jiankui, creator of the CRISPR babies, is getting a lot of attention. The research was deemed unpublishable because of ethics shortfalls and apparent deception used in the course of the experiment. 🧵

I am willing to publish my two 2018 papers on the world first gene edited babies, however it must be published in either Nature or Science. It is one of the greatest medical breakthroughs in history, it deserves the honor to be published in Nature or Science.
