They could have built a hundred GW of nuclear and transformed the industry forever, single-handedly transforming the entire world into something from our wildest dreams. Instead they chose… poorly.

France is the model of how to reduce fossil fuel use. Not that putting more plant food into air is bad. Just that at some point cheap fossil fuels will be depleted. The future is nuclear one way or the other.

And what's even more frustrating is that same amount of money, in the same amount of time could've been used to build out Germany's nuclear fleet and result in the complete decarbonization of her net by now. (Given that none of the existing nuclear plants were closed)

Looking at German electricity this week you could be forgiven for forgetting they've spent FIVE HUNDRED BILLION € on a renewable energy "transition" They're just straight up fossil powered! With high costs, high carbon, and a shrinking economy. I labeled it for you below.

Dunkelflaute conditions are persisting over north-west Europe (6th consecutive day), curtailing wind power generation. Gas + coal + oil + firewood accounting for 50-70% of total electricity generation in Germany / UK / Netherlands. Merci monsieur Messmer

I rented a $17k lens to photograph the recent starship launch in detail. When I aligned and stitched all the photos I took together, it made a unique video showing the entire event from launch to catch. I hope to ride on Starship one day.

Another step closer to fully and rapidly reusable rockets!

Starship achieved a precise, soft landing in the ocean, paving the way for return to launch site and being caught by the tower arms, like the booster. Full & rapid reusability improves the cost of access to orbit & beyond by >10,000%. It is the fundamental technology…
